Didn't the Estate (or NS) say that they cancelled the Purple Rain SDE because they finally understood that we were sick and tired of Purple Rain? And then they're releasing that one-step pressing of Purple Rain in October...

.
We're sick of Purple Rain rereleases – but we'd love a real, comprehensive PR SDE. And with the musical opening this year, this could've been a great opportunity to join marketing forces for the musical and the SDE.

.
Simply repressing the album ('one-step' or not) is a non-event.

Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.

And then they will probably turn around and go "we have to give the musical room for promo and
it's own spotlight so we're not releasing the ATWIAD deluxe this year since we don't want to take
away from all things Purple Rain this fall and winter"

falloff

Good luck with the 'positive' hope (in these sour times).

Of course we would. Anything is better than nothing. I mean in terms of previously unreleased music. So a "real, comprehensive" SDE for PR would be fantastic, indeed.

But a real, comprehensive SDE for any other album would be even better, for me, including Love Symbol.

Could it be that this is a push from Warner Records?

I don't see any Estate/NPG logo or info.

I went to see The purple Celebration last night in Sheffield. Enjoyed it. However it struck me how old we all were except a small few. Prince fans are literally dying out!

I was at the Newcastle date, and similar here... there were a *few* folks in the queue who looked twenties-ish, but otherwise, at 38, I must've been one of the relative "spring chicks" there.

Adds to the poignant "end of an era" feeling that New Purple Celebration will be quitting altogether in January. But at least the various unofficial acts, labels etc have been doing at least *something* to give us a Prince fix while the official people keep twiddling their thumbs...

If that's all that's being released I have absolutely no intention or desire to part with my money.

The estate should be ashamed of themselves.

Quite frankly, I won't be buying any more "presentations" from the Prince estate again. I have bootlegs out the yin/yang and nothing...I repeat NOTHING will ever equal seeing and hearing Prince alive in concert. I will always treasure those memories but I'm not waiting any more for releases from the hallowed Vault. Done. And happy that the last two concerts I went to with my son were in a small club in 2014. I will always treasure that memory. As his Vault gathers dust... I will move on and listen to other live musicians. Live music was always where Prince shined the most. And I'm too old to wait for the dead to arise again. Live music while I'm still ALIVE! lol cool
