Whammy effect on the undertaker version of bambi? On the undertaker version of bambi, does anybody know what pedal/effect is doing those quick little pitch rises and falls at the beginning of some of the notes he plays, like at 2:58 (https://youtu.be/VDMU6Ft0938?si=EWEazJ9glitHFj0v) for example? |

It could more likely be the Roland GP-16 digital effects processor (with Roland EV-5 expression pedal). See guitarcloud website. At least a digital pitch-shift effect |

I think you can see a good part of his peda lboard in Teh Undertaker movie and I think he always had a original Whammy and later also used a Whammy 4. Teh first time I heard a Whammy was in Can't Stop this feeloing I Got and I went looking for one but after a week just playing around with it threw it in the closet for 20+ years
the rubber padding of the footswitch had melted over teh casing but I could save it some years ago now actually play with it alot because RATM songs opened that thing up for me of what it can do. |

You could well be right, but according to guitarcloud.org, Prince started using a Digitech Whammy only in the mid-2000's... |

It's weird, I really thought I saw a Whammy on his board back in the 90s during an aftershow. So the Guitarcloud site might not tell the full story on that - I'd hypothesize that maybe he had a different, smaller rig for aftershows instead of the full rack setup etc. |

Just a hypothesis: If you look at P's pedalboard for the 90's,as drawn on guitarcloud, you see a boss power supply pedal adjacent to a colorsound wah. Both are red. Could this combo be visually mistaken for a digitech whammy? |

Could be, certainly. Though I am a bit of a guitar / music gear obsessive. |

Could be, certainly. Though I am a bit of a guitar / music gear obsessive. Your idea of a smaller rig for aftershows, including the whammy, sounds plausible! |

Could also have bee n an Eventide rack. but at teh Amsterdam Paradiso shows in 95 he alrewady had a Whammy on his pedal board and a yellow Colorsound Wah (in the Undertaker movie I think he had the old Purple case for the colorsound Wah) all thos e dive bombs he did in the 90s on his symbolguitar he did with a Whammy

You mean like the H3000?
Does anyone recall the "Devil’s Music" bootleg (circa "Exodus")? During the "FX Mic Check" they go through a bunch of presets.
I don't know if the pitch on the Eventide H3000 could be driven through a MIDI expression pedal, but seems plausible.
That said, the Digitech Whammy is very likely the culprit.

Yes, he had one mnounted in one of the studios and during the celebration someone asked about it and we were told he used it alot (like most guitarists) in the 80s. Steve Vai made it a household name so to say. My guess it;s just a Whammy he used ever since the late 80s when it was released.
