Future of Prince’s Legacy How do you see Prince’s legacy growing over time? How can we reach the younger audiences with promoting more of his work? A lot of people my age don't really care for Prince much or know much of his music besides maybe Purple Rain. I just wish there was more promotion on the estates part because I feel his music is so diverse it could easily reach my generation more if given more promotion.

Prince's legacy really doesn't have a chance as long as the current estate is in charge.

What's cool is that I see a lot of YouTube reactors reacting to all kinds of Prince's music. A good idea it would be to like and subscribe to these reactors channels so that the algorithm on YouTube continues to suggest Prince songs to random people. The estate isn't doing much to keep his legacy going unless they think lining their own pockets with money made by his work ethic is doing anything positive. It's funny cuz Prince spoke out against Napster and Warner Brothers and others profiting off of his art, and here are his close personal friends and family doing the same thing. Without continuing to promote his legacy at the same time. Pretty disgusting if you ask me.

While it's his fault for not leaving a will (grrrrr) he would be beyone disgusted to find out a couple of crooked lawyers (one of them being Londell of all people!) were completely dismantling his fanbase and destroying his legacy. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Yep. That they're skipping around and releasing box sets based on original sales figures sales it all. The only love symbol they care about is this one. $ But are too clueless to get any.

No worries at all. Prince has one of the all time great foundations to continue building a legacy on. - Now that the Netflix thing has been settled...we shall see what happens.
- All it takes is a movie, a well placed use of a Prince song, or some viral shenigans propel his brand forward for decades. -
I always look at Kate Bush and what happened to her legacy/career when Stranger Things made her song "Running up that Hill" bigger than it ever had been in the 80's.
-
Lastly, it's worth remembering that, even when Prince was alive and constantly putting out new music, that his "popularity" with the masses ebbed and flowed. - Prince was always a unique artist that was silmultaneously a HUGE global superstar and a HUGE cult artist at the same time. - Prince is one of the all time greats and people will find him and his art. I mean...are you worried about the legacy of James Brown, Miles Davis, Hendrix, or John Lennon? Prince is in that same category. As the man said, "All things will be fine..."

I hope no director takes on that Netflix doc after what the Estate did to Ezra. That would be the best thing if it did. Netflix already plunked down some big bills to the Estate for it and it would be lovely for the Estate to writhe in panic at having to give it back.

The future of Prince legacy...well it seems that some indications about this future and replies will be put on the table at the Celebration in June...we will know if the mess is growing or contrary to the things until now are becoming better for the future?

Where was this reported, particularly regarding Susan Rogers?

Excatly, and i'm sure many others were interveiwed as well, and we didn't hear anything from them. Each his own agenda is what i think. And I can't recall Susan Rogers talking about the Netflix doc either... "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. That's since 2019, so 6 years on already. The earliest another three/four years before there is a new doc of that level and magnitude. Kate bush is still alive, and didn't do much with that one-time post success tbh. I'm not sure if you can put Prince legacy up with these great names you mention, but somehow I understand what you try to say. And I only can wish for most people to think like that. Prince 'was' great, but is already for some time vanishing into oblivion the way things go, simple as that. Hard to deny that i think. It'll take some serious effort to get him up on some acceptable level again, to not be forgotten. Maybe, very maybe, he'll get a one-time attention in the global media once more. All we can hope for. But honestly, I don't think so. I'm also waiting for the results of this years Celebration at PP. We'll see how much interest there still is from the wealthy (sort of) fans. 6 years on? This just got resolved a few months ago. No? "New Power slide...."

Exactly, but we're already (almost?) 6 years on so to say, and nothing came out of it. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

I don't think he'll ever receive attention in the global media again. It could have happened with the Netflix doc though, but the estate ruined it.

That's what I was going to say. L respect the hell out of her and everyine else in the early Prince camp. I need to hear their take.

I hear worrying things about what the kids think of Prince – that he's pervy. I guess you could say it was a different time...

This sadly is correct. As it stands, Prince's legacy is Purple Rain socks and bedsheets.
