The simple fact that you have to point to a SEVENTY YEAR old movie says a lot.

.

I'm talking about them referencing a fairly adult movie IN A KID'S MOVIE. All that "but Disney makes adult movies as well" is BS since they did that in separate companies. Same with the adult content on Disney+: that's behind parental controls.

.

See that word: IN. That's the clue. Yeah, restaurants have knives, but that isn't an issue until a waiter sticks one IN your body.

The new Star Wars show has a scene depicting the attempted rape of one of the female characters in it. Star Wars!. The biggest and most popular kids franchise of all time. So I don't think someone wearing a Purple Rain shirt in Lilo and Stitch is really all that shocking. Especially seeing as most young people don't even know that Purple Rain is even a movie. At most, they might know the song. So I doubt the inclusion of this shirt was ever even considered to be an issue amongst Disney executives.

I don't know how any of these things work but could it be that Primary Wave (who seems to be reposible for advertising Prince in media or whatever) could have paid Disney to advertise Purple Rain in some form in there products?

You say you don't know how these things work but you probably know more than me lol . I'd say it's likely that someone has paid for it though. A subtle little advertisement for a possible Purple Rain SDE or just for the Prince brand in general. By that same token, I suppose it's possible that the costume designer on the movie is just a big Prince fan and decided to use the shirt.

I think you can't put a shirt of a brand (Prince and Purple Rain) in a movie without permission from the owners. So maybe Disney asked the Estate and paid them for the use or the Estate or PRimary Wave paid them for exposure and advertisement.
It's a bit like with the movie Nope, they had to ask the Estate for permission to us e that LOvesexy shirt in it

Oh yeah I'm sure they would have needed permission to use it. Whether they were paid to use it as an advertisement kind of thing or they paid to use it is the question.

That's what I'm saying. There was also a Prince t-shirt in The Breakfast Club (a movie with drug use if someone's clutching the pearls)

No, Ally Sheedy was actually studying the inner album sleeve of '1999' lol

there is a deleted scene when they find the album in a teacher's locker (or was it the Princapal?)

That's a good trivia question, but I couldn't begin to guess.

If you're talking music, I still don't know. But I do remember "Sexy Dancer" in Summer Lovers (1982).

But before that, I can't really pinpoint anything.

Unbelievable we have to talk about a Prince T-shirt in some movie.

That's how exciting times are.

In two more days it's celebration. Did we hear a new snippet?

Nope.

I'm about to declear all things Prince dead in my own life.

It's like the requisite nerd thing to hate on Nirvana after admitting you formerly dug Nirvana. It's because the songs are like 3 chords a pop so we gotta condescend on how "evolved" our taste has come since our teenage years.

The fact that every successive generation gets heavy into Nirvana in their early teens before they eventually start trashing Nirvana in their late teens speaks for itself.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm pretty sure that was posted hear sometime ago. I just remember it being mentioned at some point. The fun part was going through that movie and finding the moment. But I can't take any credit for it.

Aw OK then.
It stroke me as one of the earliest/rarest reference one could find.
It was meant as a compliment, so all props to the original digger.

Gett Off is played in the striptease bar scene of John Landis' "Innocent Blood". I can't find find the video on youtube, probably because of the barenaked ladies in that scene.

The last huge Prince reference (for me) was the wonderful, surprise performance of "Gett Off" in 'Coming 2 America'
