The album that should have been (Just for Fun)

I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with “Rave”.
How would the sequel to Lovesexy have sounded if Batman hadn’t come along and changed his direction.

I know there’s configurations of this album around, and most include tracks that went to Mavis Staples (There were rumours at the time of a Gospel album and a Dance album).

So, my fantasy track list is more based on assumptions and feelings rather than “facts” about what was written and recorded when and with whom! 😃

1. Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic (for obvious reasons)
2. Electric Chair - Remix (A more “Rave”/Mark Moore version than the Batman version)
3. Feel U Up - Long Stroke
4. Still Would Stand All Time (I assume an ‘89 version would have sounded different to the GB version, but a solid song that got a real release)
5. Vicky Waiting (should be Anna Waiting, but this is what we have!)
6. Lemon Crush (Very “Lovesexy” vibes and feels totally unrelated to Batman)
7. Scandalous (Title is mentioned in Rave, so it’s on my album!)
8. The Future - Remix (same reason as Electric Chair)
9. Elephants and Flowers (Probably would have sounded different, like SWSAT)

Does anyone else have fun compilations of Rave or other “should have been” albums?
I’ve found it’s given knew life to songs I hardly used to listen to.

As a bit of a fan of Prince's late-career albums, I think that his 20Ten album kind of sticks out as a bit of a dud. Don't get me wrong, There's some good songs on there. But there are also some.... less than good songs.
So, with that being said, below is the tracklist for the album I believe Prince SHOULD have released in 2010

1. Welcome 2 America
2. Born 2 Die
3. Future Soul Song
4. Sticky Like Glue
5. Check The Record
6. Rich Friends
7. When She Comes
8. 1010 (Rin Tin Tin)
9. 1000 Light Years From Here
10. Act of God
11. Laydown

That’s a great sounding 2010 selection.
Not a fan of Welcome to America myself, but I’m going to make a play list and take a listen! 😃

I don’t think Lemon Crush has Lovesexy vibes.

Not on the face of it, but try to listen and imagine it's on a different album to Batman.

It feels to me like an evolution of the Lovesexy "sound". Quite a complicated song with sudden changes, dance drum beat, screaming guitars deep in the mix, dramatic synth stabs, high pitched vocals and occational pitched down.
