I can funk up the keys pretty good. Probably BETTER than P. Nah...just playn.
What I love about Ps playing is that he can play soft and beautiful or hard and percussive. I never get bored of his keyboard work. Whenever he stops his shows to do the piano sampler set, I'm in heaven.

I do. His keyboard playing and layering is genius!

.

.

The entire 1999 album. especially DMSR and 1999. The chords are technically simple but the way he voices and layers the sounds makes them sound so complex!!!

.

.

Also the way he does these really funk "horn" parts on keys..... I still can't quite figure out how he does it. There are these very "squiggly" stabs like on the extended version of Let's Go Crazy during the instrmental break..... similar ones on the Glamorous Life extended /album version.

.

.

Then there are just INSANE synth parts on the solo of Cool....or the live version of DMSR ("Gimme some horns")..... or on Chocolate.

.

.

Or extended version of Kiss! (I've been trying to recreate those in lately..... not sure if I'm doing it right)

I've played piano and keys since I was a single digit aged boy.

Took orchestra in school so I learned to read music early on, but started playing piano on my own before that.

My warm up song for a long time was "The Arms of Orion" or "Raspberry Beret."

Cool. cool How do you rate your Keyboard playing on a Scale of 1-10? music

You are so correct on "Then there are just INSANE synth parts on the solo of Cool....or the live version of DMSR ("Gimme some horns")..... or on Chocolate."

I am going to have to go back and check out Chocolate and extended version of Kiss.

Love the Live Version of Kiss he did at Paisley Park back in 1999. yes

Awesome. Are you in a Band? How do you rate your Keyboard playing on a Scale of 1-10?

I'm not in a band, although I did play with a band at a church when I first moved here.

My one regret in life is not pursuing songwriting and playing when I was a teen. I never wanted to be a singer (I can't sing). I just wanted to write songs for people, and be a touring musician.

My playing isn't what it was years ago. I used to play and practice all the time. But lately, I haven't.
