Grok, will the Prince Estate release any Prince music this year?

Grok: “There is no definitive information confirming new Prince music releases from the Prince Estate in 2025. The Estate has been focused on other projects, notably resolving issues around a canceled Netflix documentary and planning their own documentary featuring exclusive content from Prince’s archive.

A 2021 source mentioned a release titled Live At Glam Slam as the first physical release following a contractual resolution, originally part of the 2023 Diamonds And Pearls Super Deluxe set, but no new albums or unreleased material have been announced for 2025. Fan discussions on platforms like Reddit express frustration over the lack of new releases, with some speculating delays due to legal or administrative issues, but these remain unconfirmed.

Given the Estate’s history of sporadic releases and ongoing focus on legacy management, it’s possible they could announce something later in 2025, but nothing is confirmed now. Check official channels like prince.com or the Estate’s social media for updates.”

Grok is actually a great search engine. It quickly scraped the interweb (citing the 25 pages it pulled from) and gave an accurate summary of what it found. In 3 seconds. I’m sorry this is happening to you.

Nah, you have to be very careful to check the original AI sources; the conglomerated AI response can be full of inaccuracies and misleading information.

Please point out any substantial inaccuracies. Unless you’re just merely triggered by the mention of Grok.

"Sporadic releases"

Well, let's see:

1) 4Ever - November 22, 2016

1) Purple Rain Deluxe - June 23, 2017

2) Anthology - August 17, 2018 (digital)

Piano & A Microphone 1983 - September 21, 2018

4) His Majesty's Pop Life - April 13, 2019 (Record Store Day)

The Versace Experience - April 13, 2019 (Record Store Day, later release worldwide)

Originals - June 21, 2019

1999 Deluxe - November 29, 2019

2) Sign O The Times: The Singles - August 21, 2020

Sign O The Times Deluxe - September 25, 2020

1) Welcome 2 America - July 30, 2021

1) Prince and the Revolution: Live - June 3, 2022

2) Diamonds and Pearls: The Singles - August 24, 2023

Diamonds and Pearls Deluxe - October 27, 2023

Plus a few 7" limited edition singles. But not even counting those, it's 14 releases in 7 years, on average.

Yes, considering what we all know what more could and should have been released over that time, it’s sporadic. I post a simple search engine query and get these reactions. This place is depressingly toxic.

You asked AI a question that it can't answer, and then posted a bunch of regurgitated information that we're already aware of (because we discussed it across multiple threads, as actual human beings). If you want some kind of AI slop circle jerk, there are plenty of other forums online for that kind of thing.

.
4Ever and Purple Rain Deluxe were done by Warners, not the Estate.

Anthology is nothing more than a really bad playlist. Awful sequencing.

HMPL and The Versace Experience are simply reproductions of earlier promos.

.
P&AM'83 is actually the first release by the Estate that required some effort.

Originals, 1999-SDE, SOTT-SDE, W2A and D&P-SDE are all great stuff that are always welcome, even with all their painful errors and omissions.
.
So in my eyes it's 3 SDEs and 3 albums in 9 years, which isn't a lot, especially knowing how much material they're sitting on.

Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.

What about me posting dates, which averaged 2 releases a year, is toxic?

Or are you saying that because you didn't get the answer(s) you wanted?

If you take away the singles sets (already part the Deluxe editons), and compilations, there's really only 10 genuinely worthwhile releases, in my opinion.

(And I'm being generous to include His Majesty's Pop Life and Prince & The Revolution Live. Otherwise it's just 8)

The rub is we shouldn't have it at all. None of us should have. BUT - we got it officially, often times (not always) as a better copy, properly preserved.

Why is it that other Estates can get out material and PP can't?

I agree, we haven't got that much in 9 years and one SDE a year should be a minimum from now on but won't happen. I will probably be in the nursing home when it's time for TGE SDE.
