A Chronological Release of The Vault! Wouldn’t it be awesome if The Estate released Prince’s Vault chronologically? Starting with the very first recordings from 1973 or so? Just his daily output…released as they were recorded? Everything. All demos, live recordings, rehearsal sessions, studio recordings, TV appearances, live concerts… In order. Maybe a year of output every month?? Our kids would melt it would be so amazing.. A central compendium of his output…linked to Tidal and Spotify and Apple Music…

what would be awesome is if people would accurately name their topics, instead of baiting for clicks.

They will NEVER release "Neurotic Lover's Bedroom" Think about it... "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

I don't think chronological releases make sense.

And that's also true. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

From a fan perspective or from a fat cat sychophant wannabe business exec greed-obsessed believes-1984-can-happen-twice delusional perspective?

click baiting maybe if you discovered Prince yesterday.
Everyone/anyone knows this title is pie-in-the-sky dreamery, the Estate wouldn't consent to a headline like this in any/every alternate reality.

I'd prefer releases from all periods at the same time. Life's too short.

I think Chronological would make sense as the older a recording is, the more chance it has of deteriorating. By releasing the early recordings first allows us to preserve it for longer... Unless of course everything is already digitized. [Edited 4/11/25 4:12am]

I don't think it's a suitable idea for Prince's output. It might work for certain periods for amazement reasons (see Tudahl books), but it's also noticeable that Prince went back and forth many times revisiting ideas and stuff until reaching perfection (or, at least, his ultimate vision of whatever that was). . Also, this was precisely the concept they used for D&P SDE, and I guess most of all agree the Vault discs lack any kind of flow or cohesiveness (let alone comprehensiveness). . I can see the charm of the chronological order for live recordings - With a more or less complete set of a tour you can trace the change of moods: from warming up on the first dates to its peak as the tour progresses; changes on the arrangements, evolution of the set lists... . But to apply this concept on Prince's output as a whole doesn't make much sense to me, personally. I'd much rather it to be curated with any well-thought criteria, as debatable as that can be.
