Paisley Park Party's, Rehearsals and aftershows...

A number oof years ago, before Prines passing, I started documenting my "Princecapades", which are a comprehensive storytelling of my Prince stories, through the eyes of a fam.

Oftentimes we were alerted to Paisley Park events and happenings by word of mouth because there was no internet, yet. Once the internet became a thing and everyone got their own email address we got included on the PPML, or Paisley Park Mailing List as it was called. Through this coordination we began our Paisley Park late night adventures, hanging out at the center of everything purple and funky. When Prince was not touring or out of town we would receive an email at about 1 PM on a Friday that there was going to be a "Paisley Park Party" or a "Paisley Park Performance".

I want to share all of the stories of what it was like to be so close to Princes inner circle and recording studio, Paisley Park.

I saw him in a casual setting so many times when he wasn't performing of creating that I had to try to document and organize whst was still in my memory bank.

I will post again as the Princecapades jppurney comes to fruition. It ranges from 1982-3 and springboarded when I went to two Purple Rain shows. These were the first two shows of the 94 I eventually witnessed, ending with a backstage Paisley Park show with Prince and his sister.

I look forward to sharing these stories with you all.

The PPML wasn't related to Paisley Park, it was the precessor of this very website, and the successor to the PML. We're so very old...

Prince used that word to refer to his fans because he said fan was short fanatic, which had a derogatory intention.

Nonetheless, it is the term Prince used for quite a while.

Seing him at Paisley Park in the 90s must have been epic. I love, love, love the recordings from that era.

You are a family!
It's what he called his fans!

There is no 'purple army'
Prince was never in the military!
Maybe, 'true funk soldier' was the cringy tag???
'Family' is actually a really nice alternative to 'fanatic'!

If we were really family we’d get a say on the Estate!
Unfortunately we’re just fans. 😅

Average Friday night at Paisley......we called it Paisley, or "the Park"---

Many times we would just go there because we knew he was not on tour. If he was in town we knew it was "on" at the Park. Back in the day we could drive all the way in and park out front.

People would drive from other states and show up hoping and wishing to get in. Most of the time I would meet friends and listen to some Prince in the car before doors opening at 11PM or so. It was usually $7 dollars whether it was a rehearsal or a party. Rarely would Prince allow alcohol to be served. We always had danced so much we would buy "NPG" branded water bottles and hang out in the NPGMC area. Thats where he had his basketball hoop and the front bumper from SOTT area shows.

Some nights Prince was the DJ and we just watched him doing his thing, enjoying whatever music he was into. Oftentimes it was a remix of his music or a large screen with a concert video. If you ever go on YouTube and the show is "Pro Shot" thats incredible footage. December 1999 Rave Un2 the Year 2000 is Pro-Shot. Multi camers and editing etc.

One night we finally left at 4 in the morning and there was a huge Aurora Borealis in the sky. So many stories.....thank you P.
