You know what else happened in 1985? The Purple Rain tour. You know what the estate has been hammering on for the last year straight? Purple Rain.

ATWIAD doesn't really have enough era-specific material to even justify a SDE release anyway. Though knowing the estate, they'd probably pick that album just so they have less work to do in assembling a set lol

CELEBRATION for every album each year at PP for sure ...but no releases of course....a celebration cost less money than a release & bring pack much more money (The ESTATE is enough cleaver to act this kind of way) ...are u happy ?

1985 = Purple Rain tour, also.

well how much money can they rake in during these celebrations?

let's say they make a $ 100.000 profit at the end of the day, how is that better than any release?

ATWIAD, yes, seems likely, but maybe not an SDE because there isn’t the content.

Can be.

But I think organising a Celebration is less time consuming than assembling a SDE.

OR, perhaps a celebration live event with hundreds of doting fans is more of a chance
for some people to bask in the spotlight and get that much craved attention and some
feathers shoved up their ass.

something that is less likely and less direct with the release of an sde, where all of the
attention is on the music.

I wonder (never been myself), how many people actually attend such a Celebration?
Over a few days together, that is.
Anyone have any idea approximately how many tickets were sold the past Celebration(s)?

I mean the different tickets of 1 Celebration altogether, e.g. VIPs and other tickets?

You have the Family album, Sheila's first and second album, songs like Heaven, the 82 demo of Raspberry Beret, Roadhouse Garden songs... there's plenty to choose!

Not every album needs 3 vault discs. I mean, 1999 only got 2 and it was enough. They could easily put out a superbly remastered Around The World In A Day album, The Family remastered, Sheila's 2nd album remastered, and maybe some live show from 1985 like that one form which the American video emerged (France).

His versions of

High Fashion with bass

Mutiny

Desire

Screams of Passion

Empty Room

Maybe some early versions of songs we know. I'm sure we can squeeze out two vault discs....

They're not gonna remaster or reissue any protege albums.

You all better hope/pray the Original demos for that material gets assigned to the SDEs, because they ain't going no where else otherwise.

And also when the "fans" start up with the "tHeRe's nOt EnOuGh cOnTeNt" plz turn in your fan cards right then. How are you unawares he put out tons of protege records with probable outtake and original demos around each main album?

I almost feel like this is like a modern Prince fan take. On places like reddit the n00bs seem almost resentful/bitter/pissy he's got so much content, everyone always trying to arbitrarily assign some landmark "okay he fell off HERE, right?" so they can further reduce the albums needed. "okay the NPGMC content doesn't count right and Hit'N'Run are like commps so really he only has like 12 albums..." "does every SDE REALLY need more than 2 discs?" gtfo with that. Get back to making inane threads on reducing Emancipation down to a single disc, thx.

Right.

On top of all that, let’s not forget that during 1985, he was producing what would become Parade, and by the very end of the year, the "The Flesh" project with Eric Leeds. ATWIAD was produced in 1984 actually. If I'm not wrong, Roadhouse Garden was a 1983 production.

It would B so great to have the 12" in pristine quality (mostly 4 "America" and "Girl").

but how does this work, though? For these SDEs,don't they only use tracks that were recorded before the release of the album? ATWIAD was released on April 22,1985.Other tracks recorded later in 1985 (such as "Heaven",which was recorded on May 26,1985) would presumably appear on a Parade SDE,right?

How does this work? That simply doesn't work anymore, since there's no SDE anymore.

Here here, don't say things that are not stated yet.

We're getting a Purple Rain atmos release this year. I have a feeling that's the sum total of releases this year. They're getting fans to buy the same album and movie over and over.

In 2029, it'll be the special edition of the remastered edition of the atmos limited edition box set... in a limited edition steel box... with a never-before-seen purple rain poster!
