On Prince’s official Instagram page on the World Drummers Day post… A video of Prince playing the drums that I’ve never seen before. Looked to be from the Lovesexy era. Maybe from that German doc? Maybe new and previously unreleased??

This was so good. He looked so relaxed and happy. I always heard that he didn't play drums that well but he seemed like a genius on them to me.

- I found it from: allthingsprince777, a repost by someone named Kim Bellantoni Annichiarico from @officialpaisleypark. I tried to click on @officialpaisleypark but it the page says right now 'no posts'. It's epty. And I can't seem to follow it while constantly clicking on it. - The short video excerpt has Prince behind Sheila's drumkit, and you clearly hear Sheila on percussion, plus at the end a brief part of Eric Leeds. - This must be from 1988, some jam, or rehearsal. - His facial expressions while drumming made me go weak, sad even, for the first time since his passing. We lost such a great performer, musician! [Edited 4/6/25 17:48pm] "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. He was a great pocket drummer who could get down when needed. His drumming skills faded a bit as drum machines became the norm, but he could still get down just fine.

Exactly this. He was an amazing pocket drummer, mastered the hats kick and snare very well including perfect timing. You can hear it on the whole 1979 album. My favorite pocket drummer and to me he is on the same level as legendary studio musicians like John Robinson, Steve Ferrone, Fred White etc.
