If all of those excuses for the lack of releases are actually true (and I don't believe that they are), all it does is prove that Londell is a shitty businessman underneath all of the bragging.

As far as I remember the whole Cobo hall main show was shot on film (16mm) as was the other Detroit (Masonic arena?) show. Some of the sounchecks to one or both shows were also similarly filmed.

The TV special that we are familiar with intercuts both performances. This is all excellent quality footage that can be enhanced to present in high quality modern formats.

Most fans I've spoken to seem to agree that the best 2-3 things that have been released post Prince's passing in 2016, were the Originals set and the 1999 and SOTT super deluxe editions. Which were far and away the best projects. The Purple Rain outtakes were good too, but not done correctly. However all of these come with a caveat...

One observation I agree with - and I'm not the first to make it, is that - the look and feel of the graphics and fonts around the Celebration have a really amateurish, unofficial looking quality. Have felt that for 2-3 years, it doesn't make me want to go. The clothing ranges and gimmicky products keep coming out too...ugly, and we're still celebrating Purple Rain in the year of it's 41st anniversary...! You can get too much of good thing...or maybe not if it makes a steady stream of easy income.

...and, erm, hold up. Needle off the record... make that an Around the World in a Day celebration too! We've just remembered it's 40 years since it was 1985!!

Maybe you'll see a Chaka Khan album re-issued soon, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll see the Estate's version of an in-depth documentary about Prince's life, but then again that's highly unlikely so maybe you won't.

The only thing that seems likely (at the time of writing) is a Record Store Day release on April 12th, a repress of the D&P box set content, and by the sounds of it, even more Purple Rain merch.

It isn't usually spoken of but, Deliverance was a fantastic little EP. The title track is AWESOME and the other songs are really interesting. Best of all, the sound on this was really really good. I just wish Lotus Flower could be redone with this kind of sound quality.
