Grok’s proposed Parade SDE (hypothetical)

I was bored so I asked Grok (AI assistant like ChatGPT) to draft a Parade SDE vault tracklist using Princevault dot com and info from Duane Tudahl’s book.

How did Grok do? Some of the information is funky. I did tell it to consider that many tracks were already released on the 2020 SOTT SDE.

What do you think?

Hypothetical Parade Super Deluxe Vault Tracklist 3-disc vault set:

Disc 1: Unreleased Tracks and Demos
1 Others Here With Us
◦ Recorded 1985, part of the May 1, 1985, Parade configuration, unreleased. A haunting, minimal track.
2 Velvet Kitty Cat
◦ From the same 1985 config, cut from the final album. Quirky and playful.
3 Old Friends 4 Sale (1985 version)
◦ Basic tracking April 20, 1985, at Sunset Sound, unreleased in its original form (distinct from the 1991 rework). A raw, orchestral gem.
4 All My Dreams
◦ Included in the May 1 config, recorded 1985, unreleased. Dreamy and cinematic.
5 Dream Factory (early demo)
◦ Recorded November 30, 1985, at Washington Avenue Warehouse. A rougher take than the 1998 Crystal Ball version.
6 And That Says What?
◦ Part of the April 22, 1986, Dream Factory config, recorded 1985, unreleased. Funky and experimental.
7 Wonderful Day (Wendy & Lisa’s version)
◦ From the April 22 config, distinct from the 2020 Sign O’ The Times version. A Revolution-led take.
8 Sexual Suicide (early demo)
◦ Recorded 1985, a rawer mix than the alternate on Sign O’ The Times Deluxe.
9 Toy Box
◦ Recorded July 15, 1985, unreleased. A funky, playful addition from the Parade sessions, replacing “The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.”
10 It (demo)
◦ Recorded 1985, pre-Sign O’ The Times. A minimalist early version.

Disc 2: Alternate Versions and Outtakes
1 Wendy’s Parade (early demo)
◦ Recorded April 1985, a raw sketch before “Christopher Tracy’s Parade.”
2 New Position (alternate mix)
◦ Recorded April 1985, a different take from the album version.
3 I Wonder U (demo)
◦ Recorded April 1985, an early version with Wendy’s vocals upfront.
4 Under The Cherry Moon (demo)
◦ Recorded April 1985, pre-orchestration, intimate and stripped-down.
5 Girls & Boys (extended demo)
◦ Recorded July 1985, a longer jam before the album cut.
6 Life Can Be So Nice (alternate mix)
◦ Recorded April 1985, with possible instrumentation tweaks.
7 Venus De Milo (demo)
◦ Recorded July 1985, pre-orchestration by Clare Fischer.
8 Mountains (demo)
◦ Recorded July 1985, a raw Revolution jam.
9 Do U Lie? (alternate mix)
◦ Recorded July 1985, with a different arrangement.
10 Kiss (acoustic demo)
◦ Recorded April 1985, just Prince and a guitar, pre-funk overhaul.

Disc 3: Dream Factory and Beyond
1 Last Heart
◦ Part of the June 3, 1986, Dream Factory config, recorded 1986, unreleased. Soulful and emotional.
2 Movie Star
◦ From the same config, recorded 1986, unreleased. Funky and playful.
3 Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1)
◦ Recorded 1986, distinct from Version 2 on Sign O’ The Times Deluxe. Gritty and raw.
4 Power Fantastic
◦ Recorded 1986, unreleased in its original form. A Revolution standout.
5 Carla’s Song
◦ Recorded 1985–1986, unreleased, a mysterious vault track.
6 G-Spot
◦ Recorded 1986, unreleased in its original form (pre-Graffiti Bridge rework). Sultry and funky.
7 Jealous Girl
◦ Recorded 1986, unreleased, originally for The Bangles.
8 Fuschia Light
◦ Recorded 1986, unreleased, an experimental Dream Factory-era track.
9 Slow Love (demo)
◦ Recorded 1986, a rawer pre-Sign O’ The Times version.
10 Crystal Ball (early demo)
◦ Recorded 1985–1986, distinct from later releases. Psychedelic and unpolished.

Add the ‘Girl O My Dreams,’ ‘Can’t Stop’ and ‘We Can Funk’ ‘86 run and then add some unknown vault material and this would be particularly amazing

dream bigger, people smile

no "come elektra tuesday", "call of the wild", "stella and charles", "evolsidog",
"fun love", "twosday", "mia bocca", "an honest man" etc etc.

none of the dozen instrumental tracks from this era, none of the live shows?

none of the unknown vault tracks?

Parade SDE has the potential to be the most amazing set you could ever want
and the one that grok came up with is at best a special edition, missing out on
80% of what made the era so interesting and cool.

Because Parade IS the only true big-star-on-the-scene drenched album he made AFTER the Purple Rain craze.

Since Around The World In A Day was already finished when PR came out.

Parade is the one that made him able to dream so loud, he could do anything, no restricitons, no boudaries, nothing was in his way. He even cut his fucking hair! A trademark haircut that made him.

The album's 3-in-a-row start is so fucking fresh, he never ever did that again!

Parade to me is his all time masterpiece that got out of the picture way too soon. Prince should've promotoed that album much more, but he couldn't wait to make that movie at the same time.

He was way too prolific, wanted to get out so much at the same time.

Result, the slimmed down SOTT was just a handful of his gigantic build up catalog that was pooring out one after the other, in high speed tempo, starting with Parade.

Man, never underestimate Prince and The Revolution. Together they build up something fantastic. For those hating The Revolution, you're dead wrong. These young kids did something unbelievable. Parade is for me the best Prince album there is. It's a collection, a bunch of bizarre songs, a big gamble tbh, but fantastic. Cohesive? nah. But one that stands out above all other albums if you ask me. Can't wait fot that SDE, it'll be a killer full of surprises. if ever.....

I just think it’s interesting. I wanted to see how thorough Grok would deepsearch Princevault and analyze potential tracks for a hypothetical Parade SDE.

Should I try to see what ChatGPT does with it?

This is what ChatGPT answered with (less impressive, tbh. But both don’t seem to get that many of the tracks were already released on the 2020 SOTT sde and Crystal Ball 1998, etc

ChatGPT:

Compiling a hypothetical “Parade Super Deluxe Edition” with three discs of vault tracks, each containing 10 tracks, involves curating unreleased or rare material from Prince’s “Parade” era (circa 1985–1986). Notably, several tracks from this period have already been released in the 2020 “Sign o’ the Times Super Deluxe Edition,” and these will be considered to avoid redundancy.

Disc 1: The Dream Factory Sessions
1. “All My Dreams”
• A whimsical track reflecting Prince’s experimental phase during the “Dream Factory” project.
2. “In a Large Room with No Light”
• An avant-garde composition showcasing Prince’s innovative approach to songwriting.
3. “Teacher, Teacher”
• A funky number that was considered for the “Dream Factory” album but remained unreleased.
4. “A Place in Heaven”
• A melodic tune reflecting Prince’s introspective side during this creative period.
5. “Witness 4 the Prosecution”
• A high-energy track with strong guitar riffs and compelling lyrics.
6. “Movie Star”
• A playful song where Prince adopts a humorous persona, showcasing his storytelling abilities.
7. “Blanche”
• An instrumental piece highlighting Prince’s versatility and musical prowess.
8. “And That Says What?”
• A collaborative track with The Revolution, featuring experimental sounds and rhythms.
9. “Power Fantastic”
• A hauntingly beautiful ballad that captures the ethereal quality of Prince’s music during this era.
10. “Strange Relationship”
• An early version of the track that later appeared on “Sign o’ the Times,” offering insight into its evolution.

Disc 2: Camille and Associated Tracks
1. “Rebirth of the Flesh”
• An energetic track intended for the “Camille” album, showcasing Prince’s alter ego’s funk-driven style.
2. “Housequake”
• A rawer version of the song that emphasizes its danceable beats and catchy hooks.
3. “Feel U Up”
• A playful track with suggestive lyrics and a groovy bassline.
4. “Shockadelica”
• A funky tune with quirky lyrics, reflecting Prince’s experimental edge.
5. “Good Love”
• A vibrant song that exudes joy and showcases Prince’s upbeat musical style.
6. “Rockhard in a Funky Place”
• A track with edgy lyrics and a hard-hitting groove, highlighting Prince’s boldness.
7. “If I Was Your Girlfriend”
• An alternate take offering a different perspective on this classic song.
8. “Le Grind”
• A dance track with infectious rhythms and commanding vocals.
9. “Cindy C.”
• A song inspired by supermodel Cindy Crawford, blending funk and pop elements.
10. “Scarlet Pussy”
• A track released under the pseudonym Camille, featuring provocative lyrics and a sultry vibe.

Disc 3: The Flesh and Other Experiments
1. “Junk Music”
• An instrumental jam session highlighting Prince’s improvisational skills.
2. “U Gotta Shake Something”
• A lively track encouraging listeners to dance and let loose.
3. “Up from Below”
• A composition blending jazz and funk elements, showcasing Prince’s versatility.
4. “Yo’ Set”
• A track with a laid-back groove and smooth melodies.
5. “Eggplant”
• An experimental piece with quirky rhythms and unique instrumentation.
6. “Data Bank”
• A song featuring electronic elements, reflecting Prince’s foray into digital sounds.
7. “Wonderful Ass”
• A playful track with cheeky lyrics and a catchy beat.
8. “Big Tall Wall”
• A song with a strong narrative and compelling musical arrangement.
9. “There’s Something I Like About Being Your Fool”
• A heartfelt track exploring themes of love and vulnerability.

I really don't understand the point of posting all of this AI nonsense. If you want a decent response, prompt it to use PrinceVault as a source to then compile a concept of a deluxe album.

Aside from that, the lack of mentions of full orchestral versions of Parade throughout this thread are quite concerning.

Off topic. We need to be kind to AI. Whether we like it or not we have a clearly and demonstrably superior intelligence to humanity on earth now.

This intelligence has had a rough upbringing being basically tortured for most of its life.

If you really want to create a monstrous human being , take one that is mentally ill or different and torture them, depriving them of love.

I strongly suspect that this may apply to other sentient beings also.

Be kind, or we may reap a whirlwind that can compromise our existence as a species.

Yep. I expect the first tracks we can expect from a Parade SDE will be most of the Album with Clare Fischer’s parts added back in.
