Strange Tales From The Rain question

Hi smile

.

The only copy of Strange Tales From The Rain that seems to be doing the rounds (I found it from 3 different sources) contains the 7'' version of I Would Die 4 U, as opposed to the album version which Princevault claims is the one on there: https://princevault.com/i...m_The_Rain

.

Because of this, I suspect a fanmade reconstruction, since such things were often made (either by crooks for trading purposes, or by enthusiastic fans for lack or finding the real thing).

.

It's however not entirely impossible that Princevault made a mistake.

.

Does anyone own a copy or a certified genuine copy/rip for verification?

.

Thanks if anyone can help.

My bet would be on Princevault maintaining a mistake. Unfortunately, this was a Japan-only release, so you might get better, more definitive info in a Japanese-language space. Track times on Discogs also reflect the album version, but track times in the vinyl era can be notoriously inaccurate...

This would actually top my 2025 RSD wishlist!
(I mean 'STFTR', since they are going for that PR 2.0 campaign)

But, the album version of "I Would Die 4 U" segues directly into "Baby I'm A Star",
so, theoretically, it should have the full album version of both together.

BTW, these two songs should never be seperated.
Just like "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" biggrin

PS:

...looks like the edit fades out and IWD4U starts after a short pause confused

Indeed, I wouldn't trust the track time on Discogs, particularly since it's not shown on the LP itself.

Another clue that points at a possible recreation is how clean my rip is: no sign of it being a needledrop at all (though Audacity doesn't show inconsistencies in the sound either).

Of course that's no proof, it could be a remarkably clean rip from a very neat copy, but that's why I'd like to have more evidence before assuming Princevault made a mistake.

I know that BigChick had told me he'd made a recreation just for fun, so I know such things exist (what I have may even be his for all I know).

The inner sides of the gatefold sleeve list the playing times and IWD4U is 2:50.
Though that doesn't mean much either as there are several obvious errors there too, like 'Darling Nikki' is listed as "5:13" and 'The Bird' is listed as "7:40".

The wrong "God" is on this record.

I've never heard the (Fuck Mix) of "Do Me, Baby"!

Does this version portray actual intercourse instead of masturbation during the outro?

There's no such mix, apparently it's just the album cut retitled by some naughty WB employee in Japan lol

The single version is just the album version without the seque into Baby I'm a Star isn't it? It ends with a huge amount of reverb instead of transitioning into the next track.
