Just got tickets. Looking foward in seeing this on AMC Dolby screens. Picture and sound quality is amazing👍🏻 😎

Last time I saw Purple Rain at the theatre was in the 90’s in Berkeley,Ca for a Prince film festival. They showed all 4 Prince movies with Apollonia as host. She took pictures and signed autographs.

Is there a theatre listing anywhere? The AMCs near me are not showing any listings for that day at the moment

The Estate continues to make it so damn easy for me to not spend my money. I live in a city of about 2 million people; it's playing on one screen at one theater and as of right now there have been a total of 21 tickets sold. I think everybody is sick to death of this time period, including the general public.

It's playing one time in one tiny theater in San Francisco. Seats are nearly full, and tickets are damn near $30? WTF??

At a time when the movie is available in 4K, I’m amazed that some still choose to watch the old low-quality DVD.

Just came back from the Purple Rain exclusive screening on AMC Dolby screens in the Bay Area. The sound and picture quality was the best Purple Rain has looked. Great seeing many Prince fans in attendance wearing Prince shirts and applauding before the movie and after the end credits. Movie did great business as they added 2 more showings in many of the AMC theaters. Hope other fans were able to enjoy this screening

I just came back from a showing at the Vancouver Washington Dolby Cineman and was pretty impressed. I don't know that visually it was a huge upgrade from the 4k version already available, but the Dolby Atmos mix was fantastic. The sound really came through in the club scenes, where it sounded like you were part of the live audience with audience noise all around you. Same with the few outdoor scenes-- they sounded very immersive.

Saw it at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square last night. It's a magnificent theatre (although the size of it really demands an IMAX-size screen).

The movie has never looked or sounded better. From watching it on VHS in the 90s, through DVD and then Blu-ray, this is another massive step up.

Saw it last night in NY. I was expecting a better sound mix because of the Dolby and the 30 buck ticket price. THe only enhancement was an emphasis on handclaps, for some reason. I did have a new appreciation for the actual storyline though. In some ways i feel like I "saw" the movie for the first time.

I went to one of the NYC screenings too and also noticed that the handclaps were louder in the mix. I was most impressed with the vibrant HDR treatment of the video. And watching this version of the film on a screen that size, I was paying attention to things I hadn't before. So for me, it was also like seeing the movie for the first time. Those who chose to stay home and watch the outdated DVD instead missed out. Their loss.

The box office take of the screenings in the UK was £9,978. That was across 5 screens.
