The Grammys to give Prince the Lifetime Achievement Award And he's getting it because he's "considered by many to be the greatest artist of all time."

Well deserved, and I'm surprised it took this long. If only he had a competent estate with enough common sense to capitalize on this with some new releases

Is there a reference to this claim, or are you just waking up from a dream? A link to an actual article? "Whatever skin we're in

Great. A "Lifetime AchievementAward" from the Grammys who ignored him for years.
150 million records sold. When was the last accounting? we've heard that total for 20 years. Yes accouting may be difficult for a quasi-idependent artist in his last years, but the estate could do/force it.. . .

[Edited 12/22/24 2:54am] Fwiw beyonces also had a long career, about 25-30 years including destiny's child

the thing that just bothers me is the complaining of a Beyoncé or Jay Z and others like the Weekend is not for awards but being nominated for the right ones and not appreciating the recognition you have gotten. It's like "I sold this many so I am entitled to the best album" and also having your husband talk down to the audience and guilt them into nominations. I mean prince once said "I don't like awards because I always lose to U2" and that was his comment mainly about losing for sign of the times, but that was it case closed, he never spoke on it more. I mean if Beyoncé loses album of the year this year can you imagine the nonsense that will go on.

It is ridiculous that Prince won only 7 Grammy Awards during his lifetime. The sheer reverance he is spoken with flys in the face of that laughable total. Seems like the game was to be sold.
