What's going on with The Family? Something is apparently happening in April. Anybody who knows anything? https://www.facebook.com/...9WkWJguBo/

Also similar details on her Instagram, saying “The Family… to be continued in April 2025 we’re older for sure, but way more fun”. Perhaps a tour? P.S. There is also a thread for this in the Associated Artist forum, which is perhaps the more appropriate place (but somewhat of rarely visited/used area these days). There may or may not be something coming!

Just re-listened to their newer stuff and was surprised how much I still enjoyed it. Let's hope for a tour with some of the first albums tracks. Does anyone know if they are allowed to perform that older material?

They could still play the old songs, they just weren't allowed to keep the name. They released a terrific live album as fDeluxe which included several cuts from The Family.
Perhaps The Estate has granted them permission or they found a legal angle to be 'The Family' once again?
In any event, they are clearly going to do some shows. Their website mentions their availbility for the 40th anniversary of their iconic album: https://fdeluxe.com/home

Maybe they’ve been asked to perform at the next Celebration, and part of that deal is they can use the name (and maybe a small tour!?) Fingers crossed.

Maybe the re-use of the origianl name and + new album? "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

I'm trying to get them connected with this tiny venue/office space in Dallas that I've played a few shows @ - wonder what their realistic draw is these days

When St. Paul (And the MPLS Funk All Stars) toured his Purple Rain 40th anniversary show he wouldn't play any Family songs and teased a couple times about 2025 being the Family's 40th, asked if people would come back and watch them. So i'd assume a tour Screaming. Panting. Making Noise.
