There's a lot of stuff floating around on the 'Tube that I don't have. Like, I have heard some of it once or twice but I don't bother to download it for one reason or another (bad sound quality, instrumentals, live shows etc). That's neither here nor there for me. As much as I do want some of these leaks, I also don't lose sleep over not having this stuff because there's loads of stuff that we already have. And like Van said, I'm one of those people who haven't even properly listened to what I have so I can't be too worried about the stuff I don't.

My main issue with the Prince estate is them playing some of these outtakes for a few dozen people at the celebration thingies and basically telling the rest of us to go fuck ourselves. At least make these recordings available for sale. It's a frustration towards the estate and their ineptitude rather than towards anyone here for me.

I absolutely agree with that.
Legacy could easily release it, say a few months later.
It could be some kind of celebration of 'Prince's Prolific' series, or (again continuing) the Originals series, whatever idea they like.
Some kind of EP accompanied by an informative online page; about when, how and who are on it, how they found it, in what state, how they cleeaned it or not, and the decision to prefer this etc.
Wouldn't be that hard to share this with all us other (poor) non-Celebration attendees.
It doesn't even have to be released on CD or vinyl, just as paid downloads, or something, imo.

Not that it would gain much profit, but still worth trying, right?

And sometimes Prince even did a video for it... whatever they have and can share should be welcome and well received i think.

yeahthat

Maaaaybe they were planning to release a Vault Series, as the Celly "cassette" was titled Vol 1. But someone cockblocked future releases.

Anyways still doesn't compute to exclude all the other songs that were heard during the listening session

They even could release the never before seen live shows they showed to the very few.

Damn even without the video, as a 'pay' download or stream live album.

Whatever...

All these missed oportunites.

It should all not necessarily fit within a theme. We as fans are able to put the puzzle pieces together though - in case they have no idea themselves. I have no problem with random releases, with unconnected choices.

Everyone of us fans are able to put together for ourmselves from everything we have and know, right?
Because it seems to me, they also lack sufficient knowledge and insight at some point.

Poven by the mistakes they already made.

Especially when they fired the most competent people, and refuse to work with the absolute dedicated hard-core fans, who are often more knowledgeable.

they should release material the way tv shows get released ... here comes dirty mind era .. one concert video from the tour a week for like 10 episodes/ weeks .. 2 seasons per year .. if no video is available put up a live soundboard to download .. preferably both .. later years would have tons of concerts from each tour .. put it on hulu or netflix (i guess probaly not netflix) that way they get paid .. people get to see all the fun footage .. can sell a dvd or cd at the end of the season like they do with tv shows .. the amount of trash on streaming services they call entertainment surely a live show series would be better and watchable

Don't know if there are enough fans left to see all shows of one tour for example.

And TV, or HULU or whatever also are suckers for view numbers. And ther ewould be few i'm afraid.

It sound fantastic, but my guess is that it's quite impossible for any company to go with this, to make money from this.Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not an expert.

I wish they would, your proposal sounds great.

But it's all about the numbers and $ in the end.

I think 'trash' on streaming services is still more profitable.

If TrevorAyer means one tour per "season", then the idea is fun, but unrealistic. Only hardcore Prince fans (so about 3000-5000 persons on the planet?) would care.

I'm a hardcore Prince fan and I know even I wouldn't want to watch that many concerts from any given tour. Give me a very small selection of the "best" concerts from the tour. And then give me the one-off performances / aftershows.

I'm definitely not interested in watching / listening to 20 or 30 concerts from the Lovesexy tour. Eric Leeds was sick of it for a reason.
