"Snow Man" - such a pretty song, sadly all but forgotten. I hope there is also a version with Prince on vocals. Although, since it's so personal to Nona, I can enjoy this one with just her lead vox as well.
The gunshot sample is a little bit much. I mean, we know the reference, yes, but come on. Prince was a little hot on his sound effects in the 90s and this one is really, well, a lot.
However, I love this song, it's such a nice, simple little melody and it's so effective and very memorable.
Shame they didn't get to give this an official release, same goes for Lovesign. I like their voices together.

Love Sign was officially released as a promo single and on 1-800-NEW-FUNK, for what it's worth, along with a remix by Shock G on Crystal Ball. Prince and Nona also performed it on the Today Show in the US in July 1994. |

Yeah, I know, but like with "dolphin", these 'singles' at that time had nowhere to go, they weren't released as actual official commercial singles in stores to count toward the charts or to actually be pushed to radio in a meaningful way to make an impact.
Which is a shame because he came out the gate with a bag full of wonderful songs at that time, but things derailed so quickly that these songs had no chance.

I'm sure Love Sign would've been a hit if WB didn't block it.
.
On the back of TMBGIW he was big news at the time, the gun control message, Ice Cube directed video, Marvin Gaye's daughter... it could've been big.
.
I've always loved their version of A 1000 Hugs and Kisses as well. |
