Good spot, and noticed in the UK both HMV and Amazon have it discounted too: D&P SDE on Cd is £69.99 and the vinyl set is £149.99 - maybe these should have been the prices to start with?! There may or may not be something coming!

I have the LP edition of this and I have to say it basically killed my Prince listening for the best part of a year.... to me it's the first big misfire of the Super Deluxe Editions.... the b-sides etc feel incomplete, and with the vault tracks there's just swathes of them that are junk... like, really bad.
And the remaster of the album itself was a dud.
This release actually made me like Prince less (!!) - which I never thought would be possible.
The live show is good, but, eh.....
My vinyl set is now for sale. Never would I have imagined this could be the case, as someone who was always a 'give me everything he did!' Prince fan.

What s the point in buying that album on vinyl ? It was conceived for a CD release.
Concerts and unreleased tracks are a joke on vinyl. Just a sucker thing, especially when the master and sound are exactly thé same nowadays on those releases. [Edited 11/24/24 7:28am]

Just to have it, to collect things, as objects. Simple as that. Like those who buy stuff, left unwrapped forever (which i will never understand). Each one his own, right? These questions being asked a million times here, just let it be. They're irrelevant questions. No need to shove your or mine opinion on that down others throats. I collect vinyl, I play it, over and over, all 11K of them. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." But, really, why are people still buying vinyls? (Just kidding. )

^True that! . Comparing an original artwork from Prince's second album (or any re-press from the 80's) to the reissues from last decade show a totally different shade of blue and a lack of definition. Even on the product pics online it's obvious and you can tell the difference from a XXI century reissue to an "original".

On a related note, Amazon Black Friday deal for Purple Rain 4K is $10.99. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Kares is right about labels using scans, e.g. for last year’s Black Friday RSD ‘Gett Off’ promo re-release, they used a scan of Matthieu Bitton’s original. Also Warner’s couldn’t find the masters for the hologram D&P, hence why that wasn’t used for the SDE (and it probably being prohibitively expensive to recreate) - however I think Warners not knowing where the master was for that was pure laziness or ignorance on their part, as I easily made contact with the company who did the holograms and a VP there came back to me saying they had the masters but Warners hadn’t been in touch them. I let Matthieu know but by then it was too late. There may or may not be something coming!

My vinyl set is now for sale. Never would I have imagined this could be the case, as someone who was always a 'give me everything he did!' Prince fan. Everyone here knows I've been very vocal about things I believe the Estate handled poorly, but one thing I will never, EVER blame them for doing is releasing music, including subpar material. There was a lot of subpar material on D&P (and TBH, on SOTT as well), but this is what archive projects are for: for every masterpiece Prince chose to sit on like All My Dreams, there will be 10 songs he wisely decided to keep for himself, and demos are what the name suggests: hasty drafts, works in progress. I want to hear all that stuff. I find it interesting. Before the Internet, I used to spend a lot on shitty sounding bootlegs so I could hear that sort of stuff (and so did most of us). I see what you mean, but the issue with the D&P Super Deluxe is the subpar material and the lack of comprehensiveness together. If at least they'd have offered a more complete picture of Prince's drawing board from 1990-91 it would make a bit more sense even if I (or we) don't really like it that much. But the end result is a hodgepodge and not even very good at it.

It's been a topic here a while ago, go look for it here. Indeed a great find, leak, thing to hear. A difficult piece for The Revolution to rehearse. But the end result is a hodgepodge and not even very good at it. I guess there are economic factors when it comes to how many CDs or LPS would be included. While I can understand this, what I found appalling is they wouldn't add some simultaneous digital releases for all the official material they excluded (all the Cream and Gett Off remixes, the radio mix of Glam Slam '91,the Gett Off video EP...). This would have been easy and virtually costless. As for the outtakes, to be fair (as far as we know from what we know was recorded), there wasn't SO much more material to choose from. I can also respect that it had to fit on 3 albums. Had we any prospect of regular releases for what cannot be included there, I wouldn't mind. But at this rate, what wasn't released last year may not be released before 2075... A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
