Toure is literally trending on Instagram regarding the documentary and details of what's inside and focusing on Mayte being 16 and Prince being her legal guardian and every other post is about how creepy that was and how horrible he is. Mind you this is the same person who wrote a book gushing about his genius years ago.

His TikTok video is trending and the comments are all negative https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTYjKRC2j/

Don't know who is this weirdo, but he sounds very hyped when basically he ain't saying anything that's not on Mayte's book, which been out for ages already.

Toure knows exactly what he’s doing. Most Gen z could care less about Mayte’s book and don’t know her story. But salacious 1 min videos on TIKTOK will grab a younger generations attention.

They Don't give a shit about projects that are not leading to millions of $. There are not people paid for that job anymore ( running the vault and the existing catalogue).
They are instead working on profitable projects ( that I Hope, won't sée thé light of day)

Touré is just telling the same things I said here for months.
There s no fucking way the estate is going to let that doc be released. Thé director IS just a fucking idiot, and the Netflix guys who let him do that fucked UP job must be fired by now.
If I were in charge of the estate, I certainly won't let that shit be released. Now, they could just release some fucking remastered shows on Netflix.

Have to ADD PRIMARY WAVE to this as well. Yes Spicer and McMillian are the front men but PRIMARY WAVE is just as negligent if they are letting it happen and are in agreement.

They aren't (always) in agreement, but Londell vetos everything. He is the #1 problem, full stop.

Hey you! Get out on this dance floor!

Exactly !

But... they can't.

We know why,

... sort of, not all 100% clear though.

But it's what it is; nothing will happen in BIG YEAR!.

The Netflix documentary would bring Prince back into the public consciousness and I would certainly like to see it as it is.

Surely there must be some way to edit it to assuage some of the concerns that the estate has , I would certainly watch it if it was nothing but performance footage.

It was imagined as a biography and I am uncertain that concept could ever be realised with so little or no input from Prince (unavoidable). As it stands it is what everyone else glimpsed combined and can only be viewed though that lens.

The fandom is a strange beast and would be very difficult to come up with material that would energise and intrigue lifers like me and still tickle the interest of the "really loved purple rain, never dived deeper crowd"

[Edited 11/18/24 19:12pm]

The Netflix doc was the only hope to get Prince's name out there but alas !

It will be released somehow and then the whole controversy (via the media) will play out again,
that is, exactly the same reasons why they are putting it on hold for so long.

I'm pretty sure about this.

-

I was thinking the other day, maybe Spicer, Londell and Primary Wave are doing it for exactly this reason, to build even more controversy, to create more buzz, more hype, and maybe to result in more money?
Let's hope that's not the case.

How perverse the idea alone...
Like all the blather to protect his sanctity, his so-called legacy.
I hope I am dead wrong.

FJODOR

this fandom is dead eh?

meanwhile, as this forum is on life support, a thread about a new outtake leak
garners 800+ views in a couple of hours.

the fans are still (t)here, but people just want the music, not all the bullshit or the fluff.

"This fandom" will never die. I'm working on it. I'm brainwas... I mean, I'm educating my 6-year-old son. One day, he'll be a fan, too.

No. lol

Yeah, ok. Who is the one that had, what, fourteen pages of changes/demands about the Netflix doc? It wasn't anyone from Primary Wave. People who (still) think Llondell (and Spicer) actually GAF are delusional.

If this fandom is dead, it is because of this fandom (site).
There is too much disagreement, blaming, chasing mistakes, splitting into camps and childish attitudes, (about sharing music for example alone or where to find something).

This is a sure reason why so many peope left here.

More reasons:

- this site is old, badly maintained, regularly down, threads are regularly disappearing and never re-appearing, etc.

- no proper release since October 2023

- no upcoming release to get excited about

- fans are getting (even) older (and, yes, they also die)

- many other places to discuss Prince (Discord servers, other forums, Reddit, Facebook, etc.)

[Edited 11/21/24 9:02am]

I know, very frustrating.

Your theory is so beyond ridiculous, when it s so obvious why they are putting it on hold forever. Unless Netflix is going to court, or cut it down to six hours, of course.
But thé 9 hours version will never be released officially, everyone understood that.

I don't know about Londell, etc... creating hype and all that, but I definitely think it will come out ar some point. Netflix doesn't spend $10Million for no reason, and it seems like the estate is being held up by this not being settled.

The 9 hours don't need to be released officially.

There always will be leaks.

Patience is a virtue, and we have nothing else but trust on that.

I can wait. This year's promises are all fucked up anyways.

Someone here reminded us of this too; we have hundreds of hours of music to listen to.

I'm sure every one of us still has Prince material they even didn't listen to or watch.

Even stuff that won't make the 9 hours doc.

That's how much Prince left us, no other artist nearly did the same.

Put on top of that the even bigger mountain of the unreleased stuff circulating.
