There is only "Manic Monday" "Purple Rain" "Nothing Compares 2 U" & "Kiss".

The rest has unfortunately been forgotten by the world outside of this -fandom-

Add 1999 to the list.

Anywho, it's normal. The average listener only cares about an artist' hits. The world doesn't revolve around Prince (or any artist for that matter), as much as hardcores wish it would.

For instance, I'm not a hardcore fan of the Beatles (+plus I was born in the 90's), therefore I only know "Hey Jude" and "Imagine" by John Lennon.

Unforgivable mistakes.

It has been over a year since the last SDE. The estate has given us zero new music, zero plans for new music, and zero meaningful communication with the fans whatsoever. Londell and Charles have stubbornly refused to listen to any criticism or feedback, no matter how politely given. All they care about is shilling Prince's name and image for quick and easy cash, his musical legacy be damned.

Meanwhile, fan discussion sites are either dead aside from a handful of grouchy old-timers (a la this place), or full of surface level discussion about the same old handful of topics. The long time fans are shrinking in numbers, and the estate has no plan to turn newer generations onto his music to preserve Prince's artistic legacy. It feels like we're all witnessing the dying gasps of the Prince fandom in real time. It was fun while it lasted.

yep.

What some of you don't know is there was a mass banning of orgers over the P&R forum. Unfairly and they were never let back. The mod that did this was kicked off the Org. Many of us reached out to try to get the posters who were banned back to no avail.

Also the org was hacked and everyone had to re-sign up for their own account with the original email address that we signed up with. Lot's of people were on here for years and of course couldn't remember that email address, so that screwed some people over.

When did that happen? I've been here since 2004 and don't remember this. I do recall an episode in recent years when the org was down for a while. Perhaps that's what you're referring to? If so, I don't remember having to re-sign up but maybe I've forgotten. confuse

BTW I don't think I ever posted in P&R. I may have looked at it once or twice but it seemed like a mess and not worth getting involved.

People didn't need to re-sign up, but you did need to recover your passowrd. If your email was unknown or had changed so you couldn't get the password reset in email, then yes you needed to sign back up. There was no secure alternative, unfortunately.

Anyhow, I'll try to keep the site up, as much as possible, until the last person decides they don't get value from it / there's no community left. This site has always been for the fan community. Sadly facebook and discord have commercialized communities of every sort and sure, have made some things "easier" along the way too. But here you get no ads, no spam, no reselling of your personal info. Just some janky forums, chat, etc. Take it or leave it. I'd like to have time to improve the site and bring it up to a more modern standard but I just don't have time to these days. I'm hoping to be able to retire sometime in the next few years and maybe then I can create something else awesome for Prince fans (and others...). But until then, I hope a core of folks can still find value here. I appreciate you all smile

Well, things certainly aren't as lively as they used to be, but I still check the org on a daily basis for the sake of it. Most of the times I just have a quick look and move somewhere else, but sometimes I like to engage on an interesting thread and learn about different points of view or learn something I've overlooked in the past. I might be old school, but I still prefer this to any FB group or something.

Thanks Ben, great stuff. Yes the absence of commercialisation of this site is often overlooked when compared to everything else. I’ll be happy to be that last person using it but hopefully not for many years.
There may or may not be something coming!

It's clearly up to us to revive him. Prince is the most giving artist of all time and he gave so much to us. Now it's time for us to give back to him by kepping his legacy alive as well as fighting for all the things he stood for.

Well, sharing his music (sending a YouTube link to a friend, for example) is possible. I think that's also what Alexandra was talking about.

I would play bootlegs over the PA when I was a theatre manage all the time. I'd stand at the back of the theatre and watch the crowd as they say in silence listening to Purple Music or Neon Telephone. None of them realized how they were being blessed. This was quite recent too.

Very good point. It's clear that we can't rely on the estate to keep the music coming and to keep Prince's legacy alive.

Hey Ben, thanks for dropping by and providing this update! cool

Indeed, people have been decieved into believing that SM sites are free. Zuck, et al did not become billionaires by giving things away.

Speaking of YT links... My interest would revive if the leaked but greedily hoarded material were made readily available. nod
