Prince's (not so known) Greatest Songs.

Nothing going on here.

Well, why not make a sort of list of great Prince tunes?

Like a nice album-ish list for newbies, and for those who only know the hits.

So, if you like, try to make a 'Greatest Songs' list, that you really like, without using the well know hits.

U can use b-sides, or extended versions, but skip the remix versions for now (let's keep that for another moment).

Make it between 10 and 14 tracks. up to you, but see it as al album with an A and B side. Think about the fadings and follow ups of songs, how they can work well side by side.

Here's mine; I call it "A Case Of Great Songs"

-

1. Holly Rock

2. Play In The Sunshine

3. Automatic

4. Clouds

5. In A Large room With No Light

6. A Case Of You

-

7. Wonderful Ass

8. Bob George

9. Computer Blue

10. Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)

11. Cocoa Boys

12. International Lover (demo)

13. Vicky Waiting (without the Joker intro) / Venus De Milo

(I'll mix those last two tracks as one)

-

come on, give it a go, propose your own ideas...

I wish you heaven remix (Take this beat).

The "I Wish U Heaven (Take This Beat)" remix, has always been a favourite of mine too.

But i'd like to use that in a Prince-Remix-Only album i'm thinking off... (not remixes done by others for Prince)

In roughly chronological order (sorry, I wouldn't know how to sequence this):

Joy in Repetition [We would need a version with a proper start and end]
Power Fantastic
Vicki Waiting
Willing and Able [Live in the studio / video version]
Love 2 the 9's
Endorphinmachine
Calhoun Square
---
3121
When the Lights Go Down
Muse 2 the Pharaoh
When Eye Lay My Hands on U
Chelsea Rodgers
Act Of God
Stare

14 tracks is not enough. smile

Sure it isn't, make a second one... etc

I have several. And they all work fine for me, obviously.

It's always a matter of trying what fits right after each song,

and try give it a wider range of his talent.

Your list sounds really great!

Only, I would like to change the order... wink

WOW!

Niiiiiiiice collected album too!

I can listen to this collection... only two things i'd like to change;

'Gold' & 'Strays Of The World' for me are not openers, but sound more like closing songs.

Can I switch 'Gold' with 'Glam Slam'?

And switch 'Strays Of The World' with ICNTTPOYM?

biggrin

What's cool about all of these album track lists is that, like most actual Prince albums, they are all good to great but each have one or two songs that I don't enjoy as much.

And what's always been cool about P's catalogue is that a song I don't dig is often somebody else's favourite. I just had this conversation with someone about "Cream." That's true of a couple of songs folks have listed in this post.

Good job on the fictional albums all.

This is a weird one for me.

I'm not a fan of S.S.T., SexmeSexmenot, and 1000 X's & O's.

But the use of Wall Of Belin and Whistlin' Kenny grabbed my attention. wink

But for sure i'm gonna try it. smile

Thank you!
