Prince and a Jazz Band Found this on one of Prince's engineers (Joshua "Tipz" Richardson) X page. A snipped vid of mixing some freshly recorded live show of Prince and a Jazz Band recorded at Paisley Park. Anyone here who knows when and who was in that band? I REMEMBER THE NPGQ DAYS!! I remember watching a live performance of theirs, maybe the PE/AOA released day show or a Judith Hill adjacent thing?? Then seeing this video and being SO excited for whoever to release it ~ which still hasn't happened ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Piano & A Microphone, HITnRUN PHASE 3 (possibly), Black Is The New Black, the full Paris show CRAZY2COOL came from and this NPGQ album. That's five projects Prince was working on from 2014 to 2016 and how many of them have been released?? I'm rolling my eyes, if you can't hear. @ McMillions, RELEASE IT. eye dont think U heard me . . . | |

This NPG Q / Jazz Band project sound more of the same style of production Prince did like for Judith Hill etc. (Too) dry, distant, and not very passionately involved and impersonal(IMHO). Though, at least from what i can hear off of this video snippit, plus what we have from that era. Just was surprised to find this short video. (maybe now Londell and Spicer will find out and take it off the internet...) Anyways. We rarely see a post like that from any engineer. right? And honestly, Prince's engineers, for sure are the only ones who truly witnessed Prince's studio magic all the time. - The two things i'm most interested in you (MusicFan20Ten) mention, is ; * Piano & Microphone, just to hear all these fine piano arrangements he made for songs that are hard to play on a piano, in a christal clear production. Only Prince can do Prince better! Yes we have some boots, but they sound like shit, and, * Black Is The New Black. Simply because of the colaboration with the multi talented MonoNeon, plus, that title sound so promissing to me, like another 'The Black Album' type of funk? I can only dream, right? MonoNeon for sure is a funk-beast. I follow him on Insta. He has no style of looks and clothes, but boy can he play! That combo with Prince can be awesome i think. - This HITnRUN PHASE 3 does not grab my attention at all. Simply because, for me, the previous two did not live up to my expectations at all, nor were they compelling. No one here has much to say about it either. Prince seemed to forget the funk he could handle so masterfully. His pursuit of some kind of easily digestible ‘pop’ to belong to the charts again did not appeal to me at all, as it started with OAO, (again, to me) an absolute disappointment. Maybe I should give it another spin. But that very fast ageing ‘woosh'-production style of jehova-Joshua in every song was Prince's worst choice ever imho. He would have been better off producing himself a slater by a then-established producer like Pharrell or someone funkier dude of the moment. - Anyway, I better should shut up and not being picky anymore and hope these get some release, if the estate is willing to smell some more cash... right? - off topic, but, Just....imagine this; if they should release a one-off single, right now!... like a very old Prince tune. Something like "Neurotic Lover's Bedroom", then I'm absolutely sure they would sell more, and add some more ‘nastiness’ to the documentary's current controversy. Sure all radio stations would feast on it. Plus let The Estate slap another phat juicy video on top of it of some old found video footage for sure to be found in the vault. ;-)Guve more boost to the current situation. And make Prince taste like that horny little young gender-mix bitch again. Damn! I'm dreaming out loud.
