Official Prince tribute show slated for new Norwegian Cruise Line ship

This is where we're at for 2024, y'all:

Norwegian Cruise Line announced “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince” would be one of two new productions headed to the ship’s main stage developed by NCL’s in-house production team.

The Prince tribute show was done in partnership with Prince Legacy, LLC and Primary Wave Music, and will lean into the hits of late musician who died in 2016, including “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Little Red Corvette,” “Delirious” and “Purple Rain.” during a concert-like experience.

Y'all can expect a lot more of this before you ever see another vault release. Musicals, cruises, bed sheets, rain boots - you name it, Londell will license it out in a heartbeat.

Even when the documentary dispute gets sorted out, Londell will put his energy into literally anything other than compiling vault releases. He'll find some other piss poor excuse to give to whatever fans are still around by that point.

If fine with it, if it generates significant revenue for the Estate. In an ideal world, they would reinvest some of those earnings into preserving the vault and releasing material that might not be as commercially lucrative. In an ideal world...

Let those old rich people on those fucked-up cruise ships with huge carbon footprints dance to Prince Hits. Why not.
It's not what most of us like, but that doesn't matter, right?
Indeed, as long as it gives them a chance to release us some more music....
Wonder what kind of band it will be, apparently people from “NCL's in-house production team”, all dressed in Purple? wink

Ofcourse they are worried, otherwise McMillions has licensing issues which could result in less millions.

That's not gonna happen. Every time people shell out for these glitzy cruises or overpriced Celebration events, it just signals to the estate that they don't need to pivot back to releasing music for the longtime fans. They're more than happy to coast by shilling products to the well-off casual fans with no discernment for quality.

This is another NON-EXPANSION of the fan base. The last thing I ever want to do is be on a cruise ship with 4,000 of my "new best friends" packed into elevators full of COVID and Norovirus.

They can only expand the fan base by appealing to younger people. The Netflix documentary is actually one way. A Vegas production is another.
But cruise ship? That swings waaaaay older than most.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.
