PRINCE album ranking on Youtube

Not sure if anyone caught it, I watched almost all of it, I am in the Top 5 now with it. But if you go to youtube and type in "Prince Album Ranking worst to best" these two guys do all 40 albums and its pretty comical at times very comical. Like "Sign o The times" at 29 on one dudes list and the same guy has "NEWS" and XPECTATTION" in his Top 10? ARE U KIDDING ME? Even if you feel they show strong musicianship they are not better than Sign, and also he has got "Chocolate Invasion" higher than Sign WTF? The only thing I will give him or both of them was some of comments around some productions, though one guy had MPLS Sound way too high, but I liked and agreed with their comments on "1999" the album on how some songs go on too long, and I would have to kind of agree on that.

Unless maybe they're aggregations of votes or reviews, albums, films and books rankings are dumb by nature. How does one decide this this should be #4 and that should be #5. On which criterias? It's trying to simplify the complexity of one's experience enjoying works of art and it's gross.

I usually only feel that someone that has actually lived with the releases and is a fan, they have a better opinion and again that is ALL THIS ever is, even with critics reviews, it should just be called opinions not reviews, its your opinion of this so and so album by so and so artist. SO to me its really the same thing if a dude or lady is in a magazine doing a review or its on you tube and you are telling me your review, its your opinion of it. AS Richard Marx said recently NO MUSIC CRITIC of any kind has effected the "fan" of an artist to NOT buy a record by their artist.

Why do you care so much about the opinions of nobodies? Who's got time for that? Who's got time to watch this inane crap? Who gives a shit about reaction videos? Don't you have better things to do with your time?

That would be interesting to make a new list of favourite albums on the org.

The best thing about music and artists of any kind is what appeals most to you might not appeal most to somebody else. No matter what it is, there's somebody out there who'll love it when most people hate it. And if somebody ranks 'The Chocolate Invasion' and 'N.E.W.S' over 'Sign', it doesn't mean they aren't aware of the impact or status of it. We all know 'Purple Rain' and 'Sign' are two of his top albums, but I know I'd rather listen to so many more of his albums over "the hits". Those two albums aren't in my top five, or my top ten. That doesn't mean I don't like the songs or albums, it just means there is SO much purple music to listen to. So much that we all have different favourites but can still, I hope, agree on what's best or deserving of being #1 overall.

And if anyone's interested, my top five Prince albums are: 'LotusFlow3r/MPLSoUND', 'Lovesexy', 'The Rainbow Children', 'Welcome 2 America' and 'Come'. Honourable mention to 'Chaos & Disorder'. Because those are the types of music, lyrics, messages and atmospheres that personally appeal to me the most. We have over 40 albums to choose from and it would be incredibly boring if every singe Prince fan said their #1 album is 'Sign' or 'PR'. Plus 'N.E.W.S' is a pretty mundane album for me, I'd rather listen to Madhouse, but now I know somebody out there absolutely loves it.

eye dont think U heard me . . .

I don't know, I think the only thing more boring than some fan's "Best Albums" list is everybody else whining about the rankings. The only reason to watch that YouTube, maybe, is to hear a perspective about an album you hadn't previously considered. The rankings are fully meaningless and getting bent out of shape over them is truly childish.

Any fan's ranking of these albums is strongly influenced by what was going on in their life at the time of listening, or at least when they first truly "connected" with that album.

For example, currently my top 2 Prince albums of all time are Rainbow Children and Planet Earth, an opinion not shared by at least 99.999% of fans. That's my 1, 2, but I don't care about the numbers, and neither should you. Maybe you could care about why they're my 1, 2, that depends on your level of empathy. That's the only reason I'd watch that video.

I dunno if I would take it that seriously, it is just people listing the albums they like most and personally ranking them
