Wendy and Lisa : “It’s hard to impress us with a cover of a Prince song, especially a personal favorite of ours (...) We’d venture to say that Prince might’ve enjoyed some of the innovation of this version of the song.” Perhaps he would indeed still have enjoyed it, knowing that he had an actually great love for these girls. And also that he became somewhat softer, more open and more tolerant in his later years. And of that, we know how idiosyncratic/quirky and ambiguous Prince could be. By the way I like the song a lot. This version isn't better than the original, but it warms my heart knowing 'the girls' agreed ànd got permission to work on this iconic song once more. Maybe they could've had the other Revolution members contributing too. - "I'm Not A Woman I'm Not A Man, I'm Something That You'll Never Understand." ... it fits perfectly with, and graces the whole project. - [Edited 9/6/24 23:25pm] "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. Agreed. I love this version of the song, and the whole premise of the project. It also has a new song from Sade, her first in years so that's a big deal also. Really cool of W&L to do this, and they chose exactly the right song imho - that lyric was so impactful for trans people of the era.

PS is it me or does she slightly fluff the "dove" line? Just a bit rushed maybe

I think it belongs in the Associated Artists forum. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

There's no one there. Arguably this website is not active enough any more to separate off associated artists.

I am loving this. | |

It doesn't belong in the associates forum. Quite daring to be honest. It certainly fits lyrically the concept of this new release perfectly. I dare to say Prince loved every munite of it; the own create mystery, the controversy, the then unclear sexuality formula, that was played and received by the main stream media. -

Interesting but sounds like an exercise. That style of singing, like oliver from the xx, is also not my thing.
