Purple Rain Screenings On July 27th

Paisley Park has an event on July 27th and it was announced yesterday that there will also be an event at Target Center. Seems like the Estate is competing with itself. disbelief

That old DVD is your go-to for watching Purple Rain? You'll be amazed if you ever see the new 4K restoration.

Wow. Now you have me wanting to buy it. I just went to a screening at an Almo theater. It was nice seeing it on the big screen but I was disappointed that it wasn't in 4K.

From all 4K restorations i've seen so far, i'm not blown away at all.

Whatever they try to come closer to 'reality' takes away the magic for me.

I prefer this sort of blurry distance between fiction and reality.

These technological improvements so to say, don't improve the joyment for me.

With AI it will for sure create a whole new perspective on earning new money from old creations.

I understand what you nmean, I had the same with the original Matrix movie, the version in the teathers and the original DVD had that great greenish flter over it whenever they were in the Matrix, they removed that on all the other releases after, I always watch the original DVD version because of that.

Is this sarcasm? I've never heard anyone say they prefer watching films "sort of blurry". You must not enjoy watching first-run films in theaters either when they are at a much higher resolution.

No, it's not sarcasm.

Although I love technology and all that comes with it,

I don't like too realistic looking projected made up stories, simple as that.

The magic often is gone when you can see all detail of the grass in the background, and often the colours are forced into some virtual reality, as if you're on lsd. wink

Also not a big fan of too big TV screens at home, they shout too much in my face.

Although a good qulaity sound... that's something different. wink

...I know, I'm complicated...

But, as I said before, realistic is how most of these movies looked when first released in cinemas. All the 4K TVs, streams and discs are doing is trying to recreate that clarity. I don't know, maybe you're sitting too close to your screen if the detail bugs you. shrug

I think so too, I watched this movie and still find this image great.
