Prince and Naomi Campbell and unreleased music

In light of the new Naomi Campbell exhibition in London, I read that Prince had apparently gifted a tape with an unreleased album to her - when she was 16. So that must have been around 1986.

This is one of many quotes by famed photographer Nick Knight:

QUOTE

Nick Knight can still remember every detail of the first time he met Naomi Campbell. “The first time was for the designer Yohji Yamamato and it was in 1986 in Paris. I remember it very well,” said the famed British photographer. “She arrived at the studio with a cassette from her friend Prince, and it was a tape of one of his albums that nobody had ever heard before.

UNQUOTE

in other newspaper articles, it says more clearly it was an unreleased album - maybe Camille?

I could not find more details, does anyone know?

16 is legal, right?

She was 17 when she first met him, according to this article, not 16:

https://www.dailymail.co....oncet.html

He must have been 29 then.

There's nothing wrong with hanging out with someone.

And nothing wrong with a 17 year old person having a 29 year old's music - even if personally given. Too many people here are making assumptions.

What is more concerning is that Naomi became famous enough to know Prince because the modelling industry is exploitative of young women and girls.

To receiving a cassette from an artist? I totally agree. However, others appeared to want to add illegal and sexual overtones where they do not belong.

In Australia, where I live, an artist is allowed to privately share their music with anyone and are even allowed to sell it!

Indeed the Wiggles are allowed to play in front of preschoolers.

If we could go back to topic - would anyone have a clue what was on the cassette? I unfortunately don't have Naomi's number to ask her lol

If she was 17 when they met that makes it 1987, not 86, so it could've been a tape of The Black Album

No it's not.

"From the age of sixteen, everyone is legally capable of consenting to sexual acts.

Even this : "Sex between ordinary minors (-18) has a minimum age of fourteen."

Legal. It's the law that says so.

Do I agree with sex from 16 year on? No.

Does it matter what i think? No.

If this is the case in the UK (as her ein Balgium), and Prince met her in the UK, no legal problem.

I don't know what the rules in the US are though... (if he did met up with her there)...

Sex simply does not, never has, and never should include merely sharing music.

You are leaping to a disgusting conclusion basd on your own imagination.

Or it could have been one of the albums that disappeared with the end of the Revolution

Exactly. We can discuss the morality or acceptability of a 17-year-old girl being friend with (or at least talking to) a 29-year-old man, but that's another discussion.

Who ever claimed that sharing music should consist of sex?
billymeade said, "Why was Prince hanging around with so many 16 year olds?"
The issue is that a man in his late twenties is hanging out with a 17 yo girl.

They met in Paris and Prince gave her a tape of music, it seems. By the way, a typical behaviour of Prince at the time, who gave tapes easily to others.

Oddly enough, it's even an open secret that Prince almost never actually had sex with his dates.

He combed their hair, gave them a bath, mostly wanted to play as girlfriends.

It has been said so many times by those (the women) who were intimate with him. Go figure..

And then again, those 'girls' also wanted to hang with Prince, don't forget that as well. He was already a huge star at that point. And for as far as we all know, Prince never didn't do anything wrong to women.

Back to the topic,

my guess is also that it could be (even) the unreleased Parade album, since it was in Paris where they met. The exact date they met is important here.
It could also be the Black Album (in the works), or Roadhouse Garden (in the works), or just a collection of songs Prince was working on at the time.
Did Naomi Campbell ever confirm this?

We could as her, she's on social media...

So why all the bullshit from you about the legal age of sex? When it was clearly pointed out to you by olb99 that "The age of consent is irrelevant to the situation" your reply was that "No it's not. From the age of sixteen, everyone is legally capable of consenting to sexual acts."

On the topic"
Yes, of course, it could be anything from an unreleased Parade album to the Black album, as others less distracted by imagined age of consent breaches have already said. It could have just been a unique mix tape.

I feel like why even attempt to defend his interactions with teenage girls...?

Like I get everyone here loves his art and whatever, that doesn't mean you gotta go full white knight mounting your steed taking on any and every person who critiques a personal action or two.

Maybe the dude could've probably hung around less teenage girls and we could leave it at that?

No need for this ticky tack elementary school head-in-sand legalise-ridden delineation of events. "YOU weren't there. YOU don't know that horny dude who writes 90% of his songs about sex was considering sex interacting with 17-year-old models or belly dancers while he was moving them into his spare sex dungeon at Paisley Park! Maybe YOU are the perv!"

Like, have some dignity, why even sink to that low level of cringe in the first place? Just keep it moving, people.
