PURPLE RAIN VINYL (LIMITED EDITION 40TH ANNIVERSARY - PURPLE SPLATTER 140G)

To celebrate the landmark album’s 40th anniversary, NPG Records is pleased to present Prince’s own 2015 Paisley Park Remaster on 140g Purple Splatter vinyl, in a mirrorboard sleeve with the original inner sleeve and poster.

This Limited Edition, one-off pressing is available exclusively via the Prince Store and Minneapolis’s own Electric Fetus record store.

Holy fucking shit. They're really giving us another release of the worst available remaster of Purple Rain. You can't make this shit up.

At this point I hope they're just doing this out of spite because the idea of anyone being this out of touch and terrible at their job is scary lol

If they're release the 2015 remaster, that suggests to me there's not going to be a 2024 SDE. They wouldn't release two different remasters of the same album a few months apart. Then again, they are inept.

They could've at least released an album with outtakes if there's no plan for any PR SDE. I don't care if the album only has one disc, I'll take it. Just release something interesting. smile

"Limited" -- No information about how many units will be pressed. And the store is letting me order up 2 10 copies at once (so it can't be very limited).

I would have preferred that they had released the 2017 Deluxe Edition on vinyl with like half-speed vinyl mastering (yes, I know that the source tapes have been trashed a fair bit!), seeing as we didn't get a vinyl version of the vault trax etc. back in 2017. That said, I'm fine had today only been the 4K Blu-ray of PR.

Not so awesome as it managed to fuck MDM2N's intro. That was super lame.

Clearly and, TBH, that's good news. Let's hope they release something at all, but if they do, there's much more interesting material for them to release that a rehash of something they already put out not that long ago.
