Tyka Nelson on her brother... (StarTribune, Jon Bream article) "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972) |

(...why ya'll think she can't find a publiher for her memoire?...)
I can't speak for the publishers, but reading the interview with her gave me a headache.
If the book is 200 pages in that vein, it's not hard to see why no one will touch it.

I don't know what it is about Tyka that bugs me...but she does. I don't know the woman, but interviews with her rub me the wrong way. It also bothered me that the news of his passing had barely hit the airwaves and she was already at Paisley Park talking to people coming up to pay their respects acting like she was his personal, designated representative. Maybe I'm being too harsh...I honestly try to see the good in people, and she may be a complete angel in person, but her public interactions just give off a vibe of someone trying to cash in on their sibling's fame. |

I remember when the prince display went to london about a year after his death maybe longer and she came over to promote it. Her interview on a tv programme I watched was a total car crash. And I remember thinking if she is going to be the spearhead for Princes legacy then were in big trouble! Her heart might be in the right place I could be wrong. I hope to god I am |

Did anyone go to her show at the Dakota? I can't find any online reviews. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015 |

I don't know Tyka at all, seems like a nice enough person . . . but you have to remember, she pretty much is ONLY in the public eye because she's Prince's sister. Good, bad or indifferent, that's it.
I don't remember hearing anything from Tyka for a LONG time - like since the late 80s until Prince died. So I don't think she was out there "cashing in". She had her own demons and I think Prince helped her a bit throughout the years (which older brother wouldn't?).
The only thing that ever rubs me the wrong way is when she brings up John L. Nelson all the time ("Daddy"), or maybe throws shade on Prince in deference to their father. I get it, he was talented and without him there'd be no Prince -- but the world wants to know about Prince, not the dad!

Aw! Tyka wants to go to Paisley Park so she can get a Prince umbrella. I wonder if they're gonna make her pay for it!

That interview she gave where she alluded to knowing he was going to die, but then refusing to provide any details, kind of bothered me. What really bothered me were the paparazzi shots of her and Omar laughing on the way out of the crematorium, carrying Prince's ashes, and holding a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. |

Primay Wave has 48% and Tyka has 2%, so 50% for OAT Holdings. Prince Legacy Holdings also have 50%. Londell and Charles each have 5% with the remaining heirs with 40%.

That's not exactly what she said in the interview . . . she said she sold all but 2% of her shares to Primary Wave. She might've ended up owning 1/2 of 1% for all we know.

.
2% of 1/6 is actually even less: 1/3% (0.33%). |
