I totally agree...I always thought those Tevin songs were super strong. Uncle Sam, Paris, and Halls of Desire.

However, I would be pretty damn happy to hear the rockin' Love Thy Will Be Done and With This Tear too. I don't think they have to stick to a 3 disc vault offering but a double disc would be perfect. i only mention that b/c the album capacity increased by 40% with the rise of the compact disc at about this time. So there would be less vault stuff. I do think he put the huge effort into the live show...need more of that.

I would have agreed with you before the estate changed hands. The new vinyl release of Purple Rain is the same bad remaster as the last one.

While I agree on this and we can go around about how Pearl Jam has every show available and Bruce Springsteen has a site you can sign up for to download shows or buy copies of and why did PRINCE never do this? Easy answers, the Crystal Ball debacle for one, stores had it before people who paid more had it, 1800newfunk, people still waiting on deliveries. PRINCE was great for having ideas, but lousy at coordinating any of those ideas, hes got former band members now not even knowing if they played on something he relearsed because he kept track of very little. Which is fine, some artists do alot and are just bad at running the show, thats him. Springsteen has a better team, Pearl Jam has a way better team to do all of thse things so many artists now have amazing teams Prince never did, character flaw? probably. I mean his idea to re-record his albums to take back ownership , was brilliant, dude got through one song and had almost no one from the oriiginal on it so it was lousy. Taylor Swift was able to re-record things very easy, one she knows you got to keep things so close but also give them new things on those albums to make it worth it. I have a few of those Taylor redos and originals and they are all almsot idenitcal, so she tacks on vault songs and has another million selling album you alreayd own. Prince had NO patience to do all this, nor the former band members to do it with.

Thank God! Prince announcing he was re-recording his entire discography excited no one. We wanted new music, not inferior re-recordings.

Couldn't Prince just do other mixes of one song ( make one track of guitar sounding louder, etc.) and make italien pass fort re-recorded ? Who would have been able to tell this wasn't re-recorded? Anyway, Taylor can do that because she enjoys huge popularity. When Prince said at he wanted to do that, he wasn't able to pull out a top 40 anymore.

No he couldn't just do a different mix of the original recordings, WB would have the rights to releasing it if he did. The point was to have masters he owned, so, he would have to re-record like he did with 1999 TNM.

Back in March 2023 three releases leaked: 2LP Remastered of D&P and Symbol, plus 4LP Deluxe of D&P. Clearly this 4LP Deluxe of Symbol belongs to that same set. Note the 2023 copyright date.

This is not a "preview" of something we'll get this year. This year is PR SDE. It's gonna get announced in the next week or so, and probably released of September or October. That is it for this year. They're not suddenly gonna put out an SDE of Symbol in the mon,tsh after that.
