SciFi's Journey From O(+> Back To Prince blog reworked with new chapter on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic

I have reworked the Journey From prince Back To Prince blog to accommodate a brand-new chapter on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. biggrin

Now the blog - which is a sequel to the Prince Vs. WB: The Fans Lost covering 1993-1998 - covers the string of album titles from aborted 80s projects which prince reused, Crystal Ball, Roadhouse Garden and Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. And then some, with chapters on both Crystal Ball II and the High/Peace/NPG Music Club/Chocolate Invasion/Slaughterhouse era as well. biggrin And it's all littered with pictures and links to YouTube videos from the 1998-2004 era covered on the blog, of course. Why, the new chapter on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic includes some videos even I hadn't seen before. biggrin

Check it all out right here:

The Journey From prince Back To Prince

biggrin

The new chapter on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic was written in my usual manner of taking all the information about it that was out there and gathering it in one place. I hope you all will enjoy reading about it. Certainly, writing about it made me appreciate the music from this era a whole lot more. biggrin

And during the writing process, quite a few changes and corrections were made for that era in The Chronological Prince Recordings Index as well. wink

It's interesting to see different interviews from back in the day when the name changed happened. Prince tried to put a spiritual spin on everything, when in fact it was ultimately a shrewd legal maneuver to try to get out of his contract.

Was there a spiritual component to it? I'm sure with Prince, there was a spiritual component to everything he did.

I did like his original idea of releasing "Prince" and "prince" albums on the same day, but WB was not having any of that. Maybe also to get out of that WB contract twice as fast, who knows.

I also like how on the Girl 6 soundtrack, it had new "Prince" songs. On Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, it was a "prince" album but produced by "Prince". So he did have some fun with it.

Great work as always and a very interesting read as always, sicfifilmnerd! Thanx a lot 4 that.

That said, Rave Un2 is still my least favourite Prince album, and that includes the NPG releases (NPG, Exodus & GoldNigga). In2 is another cup of tea because of Beautiful Strange which is a hidden favourite. I also like the Nasty Girl and Moneyapolis Remixes a lot.

The division of these titles is really interesting. Enjoy keeping up to date and following episodes from The Fans Lost, Crystal Ball, Roadhouse Garden and Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic

He def had fun with it.
But yeah, a lot of crafty stuff being sold as spiritual which was just a lot of BS really.
Never any difference between the two outputs.
If it was like how dance music producers use diff aliases depending on the genre (though sometimes they just have other reasons) theyre working on then cool, but it wasnt even that.
