I suppose I could've boiled my vitriol about her down to that. Dishonesty. I hate people lying to me or liars in general. We get things wrong; we're human. But to lie with such intention and aggression is beyond, to me.

She knows she's lying and playing people. She knows the general public and media doesn't know that Prince called her a psychopath, and refused any contact with her in the last 5 or so years of his life. No, they see her on tour, playing with him at times, and think they were besties 24/7. She uses that, manipulates it to her favor.

That is dishonest behavior.

When did he call her a psychopath and why?

I feel like I can gauge how casual a Prince fan is by how much they drink the Sheila E. kool-aid.

I'm actually with Sheila for whatever happens since Prince's passing.

She's really the only other one besides Lisa, Ssuussaahhnnaahh & Wendy who litterally kicked him in the ass to go further!

Back in the day, if Prince did a step, Sheila did it with him!

When i saw the 2010 show in Berlin, i couldn't stop laughing & smiling because their cohesion was just soooo good!!!

Whatever drama has happened since then has floated right by me.

burger

Agree. She is the onlky one who can do a Prince tribute and perform his music live the way's it's suposed to be.

I don't know why Sheila E. is behaving the way she does. Everybody has issues, I guess.

It's the usual "the artist vs the man/woman" problem. She's talented. Eventually, that's all that matters to me.

Also: nothing can compensate the Estate not communicating the way it should, IMO. Not Sheila E. Not anything else.

sheila is def a bit 'off' (or odd) since prince died.

which on one hand is understandable, grief does weird things to people, esp if their relationship sounds as inconsistent yet intense as theirs was (who really knows what happened). so theres def something weird about certain things she has said/done since.

i think she did genuinely 100% LOVE him though, and it sounds like it wasnt exactly requited, which can do weird things to a person, if they dont appear to be able to get past it (doesnt look like she can or has done).

all that aside though, i kinda dont care.

lets face it, she was one of the very best drummers he ever had (did he ever have a better band than in 87/88?), he gave her more songs than any other protege/satellite act he worked with, their working relationship continued longer than maybe anyone else he worked with (yeah he did some things with the time and W&L in the later years, but doesnt seem like it was as much), so there was something there between them that made him continue to do that.

so regardless of all the public stuff and romantic history, he seemed to still like working with her, which is more than you can say for most of his band members. she deserves a bit of respect for that.

This is the version I heard on the news yesterday.

Paisley Park issued a statement saying that Sheila E. is welcome, just that they would ask for a "heads up" first. Sounds like she tried to show up unannounced and film during the Celebration ceremonies?

Either way, I'm sure the situation could've been handled better. But Sheila E. herself is the one who must've alerted the media?

The news segment I watched, she was pretty upset about being turned away after all the time spent there recording and rehearsing.

I heard he also wasn't amused of her claims and supposed lies and over exegeration about their relationship in her bio. and seeing her clinging to anything 'Prince' and entitlement as if she was his full time partner 24/7 is really embarrassing to see.

Yet again Sheila is trying to make this anniversary event celebrating Prince about herself. Opportunistic and ugly behaviour.

I agree. That whole "he proposed to me" story she rode hard for a year or two after just felt desperate. And it was.

LOL, during that time in his life Prince proposed to every woman he met it seems, so she pretending to be THE finace is really embarassing.

Do you think she could just turn up at Paisley Park and head to a studio when Prince was alive?
Serious question. Do you think they had that close a relationship? I can’t see it myself. I don’t think he’d have even answered the door.

Contrarily, I believe that Sheila would have always been his guest of honor at PP in total freindship. At any rate, it doesn't matter.

They hadn't spoke in 5 years, and you think P would just let her show up to PP anytime she wanted to and be his guest of honor? err

Agreed. He cut her off, and she made a big statement about it on Twitter about "no longer working with Prince." That was 2011, I believe, and I have the screenshots because ol' girl - reforming history as she does - eventually removed them after he died.

I can't be the only one who had the choke-back the bile when a non-Prince fan who was trying to make conversation would throw in their Sheila E. factoids into interactions.

In the game of casual fan telephone I swear a couple people even started going, "His first wife, Sheila E., you know, he wrote 'Oh Sheila' about her."

It wouldn't even need to get to that point. She'd know to not even knock on the door.

She knows damn well too, not even. I feel like in their PRIME, fresh off the Billboard charts of "The Glamorous Life" coming hot off the presses, Sheila and Prince all over MTV and every newsstand. I feel like even then at the biggest they would ever get and the most successful their "collaborations" would ever reach--even then, girl would know better than to show up unannounced demanding use of his studio time at the moment or whatever.

Well--all EYE know is when Prince would be calling up Sheila-the-gal-who-taught-him-stuff, to get her to perform those stage shows with him every whenever-his-whim. I remember that. Seen it, too. The cray-cray stuff that y'all are reminiscing on, well, okay maybe some of that happened too--but I bet you could say that it was induced!

>

At any rate, Sheila practically opened that Paisley Park joint with the guy, lolz. Do carry on the commentary.

It doesn't means she owns the goddamn place. She doesn't.

It doesn't mean she gets to show up and show out without permission. She doesn't. "Dis a bid'ness...."

It doesn't mean anyone owes her anything. They don't.

It doesn't mean she's the heir apparent to everything Prince. She's clearly not.

It doesn't mean she's the grieving widow, the role she's trying a bit too hard to play. She's not.

What it does mean is that she's forgotten her place. She's continually weaved out of her lane. Casual fans may buy that bullshit, but the truth is clear as day.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Agreed. He cut her off, and she made a big statement about it on Twitter about "no longer working with Prince." That was 2011, I believe, and I have the screenshots because ol' girl - reforming history as she does - eventually removed them after he died.

So yeah, guest of honor my ass.

To be such a longtime Prince fan you sure are clueless.

He didn't "cut her off". She was mad at HIM for replacing her family with that lame Larry Graham band during the oakland show. That's why she said she was no longer going to work with him.

If you're a credentialed journalist the statement would be on the right track. But is this only hearsay? Just sayin', says an inquiring one.

Ah! So, coincidentally during Shiela's 5-year avoidance of Prince in her snit from being picked-over at the last minute for a concert guest-showing, she'd been banned by Prince from the P.P. property?
