Kendrick Euphoria Prince ref?

Has this been mentioned?
On Kendrick’s Euphoria there’s a BACKMASKED msg quoting LPWM’s end rap.
Seeing as K is a big P fan it seems clearly intentional - a double nod because of the backwards recording a La Darling Nikki, BIAS etc.

(Pretty sure the Stop at the end is a sample from Batdance, no?)

What’s not clear?

The line is sampled from Richard Pryor in The Wiz, apparently but is almost identical to the end of LPWM.

I’m convinced the “Stop” at the end is from Batdance but doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere.

This about the biggest stretch on here I've seen in a while.

Do you really think Prince was the first to put something backwards in their music? No sweetie, ELO did it. Pink Floyd did it. Petra did it. My God, it's not a new concept. Prince didn't invent it.

And how is Richard Pryor the same as Prince saying "Whatever you heard about me is true?" Oh wait - Prince invented that, too?

Just stop.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Also, that 'stop' in "Batdance" is Keaton.

Sure, but obviously the sample is a reference.

Hey man, I’m not saying that any backmasking is a Prince reference. Just that this particular one is. K is known to be influenced by P so it’s not a big stretch. He fills his music with Easter eggs and hidden references (as P sometimes did). I’m not saying it’s a big deal just a little nod.

The stop at the end, though, that’s a clear sample.

"K is known to be influenced by P."

So are 100 other artists. Ya diggin' into their discography?

It's not a nod. If Kendrick Lamar was going to give a "nod" to Prince, he'd have done 500% more than that doing some stupid backwards shit. That's not a nod to Prince.

Pink Floyd put secret messages in their songs.

ELO put secret messages in their songs, and even named an album Secret Messages mocking the backmasking scare created by the Christian church in the early 80s.

Randy Stonehill put a backward message right in the middle of a song.

Petra started an album with a blatant backward message.

The list is long.

Are all these people "nodding" to Prince? No, because those things came out before Prince ever did it. Why not say Prince was giving a nod to Pink Floyd or ELO?

And even if "stop" is a sample, it's from a movie, not Prince. It's Michael Keaton saying "Stop" to the batmobile which is on autodrive to find him location.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The best example of these type of threads was maintaining Taylor Swift was a huge 90s Prince fan because she used the phrase "Days of Wild" buried deep in a lyric sheet.

Whatever. Did you even read my reply? Obviously just using backmasking isn’t automatically Prince-related. What’s your point?
When the backmasking is a line basically identical to a Prince spoken lyric and when the song ends identically to a major Prince song, then the backmasking is relevant.

Anyway, u all taking this wayyy too serious. I’m pointing out a pretty clear nod coz it’s interesting. Not making any major point or claim about it. U all getting ur knickers in a knot.

OMFG!

On 'That 90's Show', Kitty referenced Carmen Electra on episode 4 of the second season right around the six minute mark.

Could have been five minutes and thirty seconds, though!
