Apple’s Top 100 albums list

https://100best.music.apple.com/us

While I don't agree with the rankings, the kid has 2 albums on the list!

Purple Rain #4
SOTT #51

But also, Like a Prayer #77
And, arguably, Control #42 (better than SOTT!?)

um

Remember the days when lists like this would include "Dirty Mind" and "1999?"

What a bizarre list.

Solage, Kacey Musgraves, Billie Eilish, 50 Cent, etc.? Drake? Nothing against these artists, and at least a dozen or so more on this list, but in the Top 100 Albums?

I'd like to know the criteria for coming up with this list. Is it based on streams, or sales? Or just personal preference?

And trust me, I am not the rabid Prince fan who hates everything else. In fact, I love most music.

At the very least, I'd include 1999 on this list. The videos from that album, along with Thriller, helped Black artists break through on MTV. Other than that though, I don't think I'd put another Prince album on this list.

You could easily put 4-5 more Beatles albums on here - they shouldn't, but you could.

But two albums from Beyonce but only one from Janet Jackson.

And Lauryn Hill as the top spot?

Google tells me:

Apple enlisted about 250 employees, artists and industry executives to vote on the albums, and they came up with a list unlike the many others that already existed. Those lists tend to reward music that has been revered for decades.
