I went to Glam slam West in 95 or 96. He had been promoting the gold album but it hadn't come out yet so I knew nothing of the tracks. I didn't care though because this was an opportunity to see him in his own club, up close and personal. Well he and the band were absolutely on fire! I had no idea what they were playing because it was mostly stuff from the Gold album. At one point though he did rip into a Santana medley and I DID know that material and it was amazing! The three guys I was with started to move through the crowd to get to the front of the stage and as I was following them, a giant man stepped in front of me and said "nuh uh" and blocked me from reaching the front. It didn't matter though as the show was so good. At one point my buddies and I looked at some short black guy was smoking weed and dancing with three hot girls. I said who does this guy think he is Prince wouldn't like this! That's what my buddies told me that it was Tupac and it was! All in all a great night.

Well, back when it was around, in MPLS I was a frequent patron.
Many, many a night dancing or seeing the man live on the main floor.
But -
The part I remember most was late, late nights at "Erotic City:" This was the upper level of the club that would open after the main floor closed down.
For $5.00 cover there would be a spread of food and coldcuts and just maybe, a performance by <+)0 at his most "Artist" just jamming away for a very small number of people and only playing the new shit that nobody knew. It was Slammin'
