I know one person who had it (he's deceased now)and he let a friend of mine hear a short snippet of it over the phone.

Aaaaaannnnddddd????!!! ;-) What did it sound like??, I really don't remember his description of it, but he said that the snippet was too short to really hear any major differences between it and the released version. I think BC only let him hear it to prove that he had it, but getting him to actually share/trade anything was fucking impossible

[Edited 5/4/24 5:32am] The "Bodyguard". He told me he used that as his name because he felt it was his job to keep uncirculating Prince tracks from circulating. That's why he didn't like to trade and preferred to pay money for tracks. He knew that they wouldn't go any further than him and in that way, he was the "protector". [Edited 5/4/24 6:31am]

Sort of. I can dig the "exclusivity" of it, who can't? ... But it all sounds more like his purpose was more to prevent others from hearing it or even just learning about it than owning it. Then again I suppose there's no point in showing off when you're not going to share a copy.

...which is a very egocentric & selfish thing to collect of course. It sound like pure bullshit to me. And, fyi, collecting paintings is different; you really want to share it with others what you can afford. Yep. (I'm in the business so to say) (( But not everyone of course. Some (wealthy) collectors like to buy and sell as an investment, and often show it to people like through an institution, gallery or museum, etc. Private collectors for sure buy art, because it gives them a certian social status. Most like to show it (off), some don't. They do not always want to be known by name, but they make it clear they are buyers and collectors. Being the topic of an anonymous (very welathy) buyer is also a way of showing what you can afford... Collecting is a weird thing when it comes to art. I'm not rich, but I collect (art), and I like to share it.)) - When It comes to Prince music, I really just don't get it. Only this, those who don't want to share it are affraid for a lawsuit, that's my guess. I don't see why you are a music lover and want to keep it all for yourself. Imagine, you're crazy about an unreleased track, how can you be crazy about it and don't share it?Explain me that? Beside the fact that you can get MakMillions knockin at your door with some corporate suits next to him... my two cents.
