Saw several shows when he came to England, e.g.

Nude Tour 3rd July 1990 at Wembley Arena, London
https://princevault.com/i..._July_1990
First show I saw, after missing the cancelled Sign O’ The Times Wembley show in 1987 and not being allowed to go to a Lovesexy show with my brother in 1988. Highlights for me included seeing and hearing the Thieves In The Temple video beforehand, before Prince hearing Mavis Staples set including Time Waits For No One, nearly missing the 2nd encore as the arena emptied when the house lights came on but diving back in with We Can Funk blasting out (having heard it on bootlegs a few years earlier).

Diamonds & Pearls Tour 26th June 1992 at Maine Road, Manchester
https://princevault.com/i..._June_1992
Sprinting once the gate opened and getting to the front barriers, so getting a fantastic view, close enough to get sprayed with streamers from the stage (which I’ve still got in the tour programme somewhere), hearing Damn U followed by Sexy MF and being one of the few who sang along to having heard a boot of another show beforehand. It was a hot day and dancing all concert, being constantly bumped around at the front made for a sweaty, fantastic experience. The coach ride home, I persuaded to put that bootleg tape on the stereo, so the fans could re-sing along.

Act II Tour 31st July 1993 at the old Wembley Stadium, London
https://princevault.com/i..._July_1993
Some amazing tunes played with great versions of older songs like The Beautiful Ones and She’s Always In My Hair, then newer stuff, e.g. Endorphine Machine, Peach and Johnny. Whilst outside waiting to get in, we could hear a bit of the sound check, including some blistering guitar, which must have been Bambi but reminded me of the apparently mis-named ‘Jealous Again’ Nude Tour rehearsal. Fans there after show to impressed when he started going about his name change, actually reciting lyrics to What’s My Name, but the crowd trying to be funny, replying, “is it Dave”, made me laugh.

21 Nights in London Earth Tour, 1st August 2007, O2 Arena (Millennium Dome), London
https://princevault.com/i...ugust_2007
followed by the early hours of 2nd August 2007 after show at the Indigo
https://princevault.com/i...st_2007-am
Having a few drinks beforehand in the bar and thinking at 8:30pm as we were supping a pint, is that the start of the show, Prince never begins on time. Well he did this time. First show of this tour, being up in the rafters, so not the best view, but a decent show in the round. Seeing roadies deliver a box to under the stage and realising that Prince was in it. Lots of hits played but nice to hear Sometimes It Snows In April. The after show was a long wait and Prince didn’t seem to be on stage for much of it or sing but awesome to hear a rock version of Anotherloverholenyohead mixed in with Stratus/Rock Lobster, I think.

3rd Eye Girl Hit and Run II show at Birmingham, 15th May 2014
https://princevault.com/i...5_May_2014
Got in early and got a great spot just near enough the front but not squashed. Privileged to see some really rare performances of songs on this occasion, such as Empty Room and What’s My Name but absolute highlight was Electric Intercourse - how the hell he decided to play this for the second time ever, being first played at the 1983 show, who knows but his voice was unbelievably pristine. Wow, what a show, I’ve always liked the rockier aspects of his performances and this night didn’t disappoint. That was the last show I saw of him. There was the possibility of a piano and microphone show at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall (a great venue acoustically) but due to a combination of ticket scamming and the Bataclan/Paris terrorist attack around late 2015, the show never materialised. It still pains me there will me no more Prince live shows.
There may or may not be something coming!

Is the general consensus that Electric Intercourse came back to front-of-mind as he has involved in the PR remaster and likely the vault tracks that were on that set?

Lol, 'Dave', I forgot about that.

I was at all of the shows you mention. I think the Birmingham 2014 show was his best arena show of his last decade.

I hear you. I heard about the infamous 93 DNA aftershow as I was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on my way home back in 93 after the main SF show. I was told he wouldn't play because of his throat, will never get over that one .

um

About twenty, give or take, depending on how you define a "concert."

From "Purple Rain" at the St. Paul Civic Center to my last show at the 21 Nights in Los Angeles.

Envy is an ugly thing, so I'll ignore the jealousy I feel about all of you who've seen him way more than me or caught the Lovesexy tour. Instead, I'll just be grateful for the three times I got to see the master.

September 14, 1997 - Oakdale Theatre, Wallingford, CT

Seeing my idol in my otherwise unremarkable hometown was mind bending! "When you were mine" was never my fave track, but he did a stripped down solo version that was the highlight of the show. My brother and I were front row in the balcony so we had an amazing view. Having been a fan of him since first seeing the video for Little Red Covette in 1982, it was almost impossible for me to process that he was right there, in the same room as me! Wait - are we sharing the same air?!?!?! A magical night.

April 26, 2008 - Coachella Music and Arts Festival

Opening his set with guest spots from Moris Day and Jerome (for The Bird and Jungle Love) and then Sheila E (for The Glamorous Life) had me giddy. Loved the vibe of the whole set. Prince tore it up on guitar. The audience went bonkers when he covered Creep by Radiohead. I was really taken by his guitar driven rendition of Anotherloverholenyohead (the studio version of which leaves me ambivalent). My whole Coachella crew, even those agnostic on Prince, thought he slayed.

May 29, 2011 - The Forum, Inglewood, CA

A friend of mine worked security at the Forum and got me and a buddy in for free. It's to my eternal shame that I didn't catch a few more of these performances from his 21 night residency and actually, you know, pay for them. Hearing him open with The Love We Make blew my mind; it's one of my favorite 90's tracks and I did not expect it on the setlist. He followed that up with Mountains, so I was pretty much in heaven. A really fun show with a top notch band.

That intro was so intense and bombastic it rattled my bones!!!

concerts but I was only like 8 when he died lol.
The closest thing I get is a YouTube concert sad

You were only 8 when he died! Makes you 15 or 16 now. So how did you get into Prince music for being so young? music Because majority of people your age I assume are not listening to any Prince music. hehe

The after show was a long wait and Prince didn’t seem to be on stage for much of it or sing but awesome to hear a rock version of Anotherloverholenyohead mixed in with Stratus/Rock Lobster, I think. 3rd Eye Girl Hit and Run II show at Birmingham, 15th May 2014 https://princevault.com/i...5_May_2014 Got in early and got a great spot just near enough the front but not squashed.

The Nude Tour July 3, 1990 I bet that was Funky as can be hearing We Can Funk?!?!? prince eye eye wildsign beret headbang music

Wow! You all are so lucky! I wish I could have gone to one of his sad

concerts but I was only like 8 when he died lol.
The closest thing I get is a YouTube concert sad

You were only 8 when he died! Makes you 15 or 16 now. So how did you get into Prince music for being so young? music Because majority of people your age I assume are not listening to any Prince music. hehe

Haha you're right a lot of people my age don't even know who he was lol

I watched Purple Rain with my mom when I was around 14 and since then I've loved him!! I listen to everything from For You to Crystal Ball to basically anything I can nod I've seen all of his movies at least the main ones like Graffiti Bridge, Under the Cherry Moon, and Purple Rain and 3 Chains O' Gold. Prince isn't very popular at least with people my age but I love him 💜

Lovesexy '88 in Houston [The Summit]- still the best concert I've ever experienced.

Jam of the Year '97 in San Antonio [Alamodome]

Aftershow in San Antonio [Don't remember the name of the club]

Jam of the Year '97 in Houston [The Summit]

Aftershow in Houston [The Roxy]

Jam of the Year '97 in Austin [Frank Erwin Center]

New Years Eve Show, December 31st, 1997 [The Summit]

Aftershow in Houston, January 1st, 1998 [The Roxy]

Musicology 2004, Houston Night 1 [Toyota Center]

Musicology 2004, Houston Night 2 [Toyota Center]

Gig with Tamar 2006 [Warehouse Live]

All great memories...but I really wish I could have seen him many more times. It really is upsetting that we'll never get to experience a Prince concert again. I really wish I'd been able to take my kids to one of his shows too.

Happy to see younger folks like yourself getting into his music! I think folks like you, who were introduced to his music through their parents or older relatives, are awesome! I know my kids grew up hearing all of "my" music, and Prince was the main artist they heard when they were with me. My son has even bought a couple of his albums on vinyl (he's 22).

Yes, luckily, since those concerts where among the greatest experiences in my life!
All in Holland (and 1 in Belgium):

- SOTT 1987, 2 shows
- Lovesexy 1988 (front row)
- Nude 1990
- D&P 1992
- Act II 1993
- Ultimate Live Experience 1995
- ONA 2002 (2 shows, Rotterdam and Antwerp)

Quite an ok list
biggrin

Purple Rain & Sign O the Times. He bought them alongside some classic albums like Dark Side of the Moon & Miles Davis Kind of Blue. His vinyl collection is as diverse as mine!

Although my last Prince show, of about 20 or so I saw, was one of the 21 Nights in Los Angeles...

To this day, it still burns me up that I was in Minneapolis on October 25, 2015 (IIRC) and met some girls at Mall of America who told me they were going to the Prince show at Paisely Park.

So, me and my friend head out to Paisley Park, and go inside. Cover was $50 which, at that moment, was not that cheap to either of us.

So, I'm talking to one of the members of 3rd Eye Girl and I'm asking if Prince is going to perform and nobody says that he will.

So, we leave.

Later, I find out he did play that night, and I'd never have the chance to see him again.

sad
