Probably gonna go with “Creep,” TLC. “Waterfalls,” too. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here. |

"Notorious" by Duran Duran
"Hard Day" by George Michael
"Oh Sheila" by Ready For The World

Warner tried to push Jane Child as the female Prince because she was so proficient on many instruments, songwriting, and production.
"Sussudio" is just "1999" revamped.
I don't see "Notorious" as a Prince-esque song, only because Nile Rodgers was all over that record, and his playing etc is so distinctive.
I can see "Skin Trade" being a song for a protege band.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

You're absolutely correct about the song "Notorious" being largely driven by Nile Rodgers writing and playing on that record (and of course he was an influence on Prince). The album itself though, according to Nick Rhodes, was largely inspired by the band seeing Prince on the Parade tour. Most especially, the use of horns on the album Rhodes cited as being because they loved the dynamic that the horn section brought to the songs Prince & the Revolution were playing. So, many songs on that album have a Prince-eque feel to them for this very reason.
It should be noted that, on the tour for the "Wedding Album", Duran Duran would sneak a bit of "Sexy MF" into the arrangement of "Notorious". |

I totally get that. I don't disagree.
