Now, I just listened to this 'Dirty WOrld' song, and read that story for the first time...

and it kind of makes sense.

Though it's far from a Prince song, still I love the 'dirty' humour by Dylan. smile

Nice story. Really.

Even more Princey is "Madness" by Muse.

Their live rendition of "Sign O The Times" is merely epic.

.

Agree. And "Propaganda´ has such a strong Prince vibe too.

I agree. It's very much in his Batman/GB era, where those outtakes were dance songs with a fast BPM. He was definitely in a mood for a couple of years there. I can see him writing that for someone like Paula or Sheena Easton. Her sexy voice doing that talking in the middle - it'd be so good.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

It certainly sounds like something from 1981 or so. But it more sounds like a Vanity 6 song. Almost has that little new-wave influence on it that he liked.

Dance To The Music by Bootsy Collins. That singer was reeeeeally trying to be Prince. And he kinda had it down. But the Prince "tone" is hard to replicate.

For YEARS, I was convinced P wrote this one. I mean, it's on the same album as the Prince-penned "U", so it wasn't outside the realm of possibility. Eventually, I asked someone who was in the know, and they told me Prince had nothing to do with the track. It damned sure sounds like him though!

There is an indirect Prince link. Sandra St. Victor co-wrote the track.

Interesting note about Spellbound from Wikipedia: The album distinguished itself by becoming the lowest selling number-one album in the Nielsen SoundScan era at the time of its release—a distinction it held until 2004, when Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below sold 86,000 copies while at number one.

Yeah I know, hence including it in my answer for this thread.

That said, if I listen to P's song Mad, and then hear that theme song, I have a hard time believing Prince wasn't really behind it.
