What Prince song is this?

Only 4 bars played, instrumental, at 10:50, before Fantastic Voyage begins:

It's simply the horn line from the breakdown in Hollywood Swingin'' (played on keys), which song they performed (renamed Inglewood Swingin') and jammed on for about 6 mins.

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Got it! Hollywood Swingin by Kool & the Gang

Nice how Prince used this as an intro to Lakeside's "Fantastic Voyage". He really did take so much inspiration from 60s, 70s & 80s funk bands.

Also he was such a great arranger. Just naturally let whatever was in him flow!

BTW i like his version here of the 4-bars of Hollywood Swingin' better than K&TG's smile It's brighter.

Good knowledge of music, Langebleu, thank you so much!

Just to be clear, Prince played more than four bars from from "Hollywood Swingin". He plays the whole song (though he renames it "Ingelwood Swingin"). He starts at 4:20.

In other words, from 4:20 through 10:50, that's all "Hollywood Swingin".

It might be more appropriate to say Prince uses "Fantasic Voyage" as an outro to "Hollywood Swingin".

The 4 bars I hear at 10:50 - in between the 2 songs - those are all I'm concerned with. Love them, and thought they were his own music from perhaps the LoveSexy era.

Thanls for the reminder that I can use the term "outro".
