seems strange to me since this song is such a good groove.

Yeah, but c'mon. Who cares about Spotify ratings? We bought the damn thing. "Trouble" is a great track.

For me it's just a mediocre tune, too much repetition, too much NJS, too less Prince,

too much trying to fit in, not enough funk nor pop, nor rock.

But for sure, he had to try that new style, for that i apprreciate his ability to pull it off.

Speaking of the D&P SDE box set. I pulled out once more all the releases from the 1991 D&P era and went through them again.

I'm talking about the visual expenses.

It was much more exciting, and all the packages still look great.

CD singles, etc. Even the D&P CD artwork looked way better to me than this icy silver and blue release.

I like the shape and finish of a release, the originality of a release.

The book could also have been smaller, with less black or white around the pictures.

No photos spread over two pages please.

Things like that... Whatever, apparently I'm the only one who is bothered by it, for the price we pay for it.

Plus they could've done a bit more their best for unreleased material.

We don't have it all. And that's acutally what counts the most.

It's good this track 'Trouble' is available though, don't get me wrong.

Yes, I love it too, one of the better tracks on the sparse D&P SDE package.

and have a browse through his discography on there to see what album tracks are the
most listened to and which get the least amount of love

It's illegitimate data, though. It mostly charts gen-Z habits. I would wager the greater majority of "rankings" for Prince go unrecorded on any website or app, because the greater majority of Prince fans are either playing physical discs or their own collection of MP3s or FLACs due to the sheer amount of material unavailable on Spotify or Apple to where it's like why would I ever use those locations for Prince?

Like I've never, ever, not once ever loaded a Prince track on Spotify, ever. First of all, all that 80s stuff requires an EQ due to how they mastered the CDs with the vinyl masters, which account for a record player diminishing the high end and increasing the low end.

I'm lazy. I listen to 90% of my prince tunes on spotify these days. I have a giant usb that I listen
to in my car, with all official tracks and outtakes etc.

But in my home, I tend to just listen to spotify these days. It's got to the point where yesterday,
I wanted to listen to "The One" and realised it's not on spotify.

It would have taken me about 30 seconds to locate it on my computer as a flac file and listen to
it, but I didn't even bother

I will get around to it one of these days.

Trouble slays like a pimp on crack. As does Boytrouble on Plectrumelectrum, the similarities not confined to lyrics. Not to mention Female Trouble, a Nona Gaye track related to Prince but somehow unrelated.

Low on the purple funk-0-meter, but it's Prince - let's enjoy it for what it is, the sort of song a genius could toss off in an afternoon !

I know some of them were released, but they were wasted on another artists. Prince' version are better, and take the songs in a higher dimension.

You literally just said it would be "solid material for any other artist", I point out they were just that, and now you say the material was wasted on other artists?

And literally all of his "guide demo"s are demos. There's no "higher dimension". They're super rough drafts of the song with scratch vocals he didn't do multiple takes of like he did the stuff that he put on his albums. His finished versions in literally every case were the versions that were released--because he intentionally released them that way.

I really have to check out "Hey U" again, for some reason I dismissed it but
quite often those turn out to be the tracks I then return to a few months later
and end up loving a lot.
