I don't get the hostility towards the post estate regime, I just don't think it's doing anything to endear the fans to them. They might not be great or good but that's my 2 cents, might as well be civilized about it all. Here's my want list of vinyl reissues. I realize only some of us are into that side of it. to me, no. but i understand that anniversaries seem to make things an easier sell. and as PR will likely be the estates biggest seller, it would be good if they can do it this year. i know PR will prob sell well whatever year it is issued, but people seem to like anniversaries, or at least those selling these things (whether films, albums, etc) think they matter. i would also be happy to have a PR super-super deluxe set. though i would be happier to see a proper reissue/SDE campaign launched, including less obvious albums, starting with the warner years. but that doesnt seem to be on the cards, so hey, ill take a PR anniversary release. And maybe inform the fans (aka the ones they are trying to sell stuff to) in on those plans. And as a goodwill gesture how about releasing those songs that were played at the Celebration thingy last year so that those of us for whom it's not feasible to travel halfway around the world can actually hear them and maybe even have an opportunity to buy them. It really brothers me that they still haven't released the celebration tracks and I honestly don't think it will ever happen at this point. Yet the estate is fully aware that we're willing to pay for it but they don't seem to care for some strange reason. U are now an official member of the New Power Generation

Imagine running a business and your customers tell you what they want and are willing to pay top dollar for it. But rather than take the easy decision of actually selling the fans what they want you instead decide to focus on a bunch of crap like bed sheets and candles and other stuff that nobody asked for. How long do you think you would last in that job?

They don't want our money. It's slowly dawned on me (Welcome to the Dawn indeed). They could release... Well, we all have a huge list of faves we'd like to see, SDEs or live sets... Another return to Purple Rain seems inevitable but I can't help but fear it's just another wasted year. The Estate is somehow, incredibly, making Prince seem irrelevant. Its mind-boggling how they are miss managing his legacy.

I only 'thirst' for something new from his earlier 1977-1989 releases we never heard. Therefor the PR-SDE re-issue would be good (for me), if they really make it worth a while. To me, Prince's music after The Rainbow Children wasn't all that interesting. I even doubt if "Black Is The new Black" (unfinished) is worth a release. If it was worth it they would've released it instead of that mediocre "Welcome 2 America" for example. One thing I don't understand, is Prince's last P&M-tour, which shoud've been release already a long time ago. Like right after his death, that would've been a perfect closure for his whole body of work & legacy imho. Especially live content. How they haven’t set up some sort of online platform for monthly live releases is astounding. They will simply not be able to get the amount of brilliant live shows out if they limit it to 1 show included in and SDE once a year… unless they really believe that there is going to be a huge market for a 1994 Prince aftershow 200 years from now…

One thing is for sure, is that they already missed the anniversary date ( june 25). That means that, when all the industry and medias will praise and remember the 40th anniversary, there will be no release in stores that could have been marketed for free. Well done MakeMillions.

This is so lame to miss the album release anniversary, with the only few buzzes they could have. It s not like they had to make Prince record an album, they have already the tracks on The Vault. That's incredible.

i realize there is a slight time difference between Europe and the USA, but isn't it still March, not June? "Whatever skin we're in

Honestly, about that (mediocre release of the) D&P SDE (imho)... yes it makes the whole Prince spectrum broader, true. For me, they should make those edit versions and (known) extended versions plus (known) remixes, only available in super high quality via downloads. I don't need 10 vinyls or 7 CD's (that were not even completely full) that to be honest. (I don't think I'm the only one here). I know it's for vinyl lovers and completists. While the live DVD was so much more interesting, original and fun to have, and the CD verison of it as well. During each new album release, Prince did so much more that is interesting to have for fans and new fans. Like unreleased video material, unseen clips, rehearsals, short performances, TV appearances, other live shows, after shows, work done for others, maybe even scetches of songs, piano rehearasals, etc. Alternative artwork choices, graphic ideas, etc. A SDE-package for me would be so much more fun if the SURPIRSE element was there, instead of these edits etc. Use these vinyls and CD's or more DVD's for surprises. Why not even sum up a chronological list of what he did per project? And what he didn't do? Ideas he had that never got materialised? Information like that would make the whole spectrum of every album project so much more richer and fun for everyone. With every SDE, there is 75% we all already heard and have. And i also know tha most want to have a better quality of the known material. Remastering these days is not expensive anymore, and is a must so to say fo rmost, although I care less for remastered versions. The Dolby Atmos was far more interesting. It gave you another perspective on the sound, the mix, the layers of never before heard elements. "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves.
