Toy Box maybe one of the most underrated prince songs ever, to be honest. it's got that quintessential weirdo slant to it. those icy synths just sort of doing that demented line throughout, the pitched down vox echoing everything.

...and if anyone had any doubts about Prince's bass playing, listen to this one! "Whatever skin we're in

“Toy Box” should have been the first single from Sheila’s Romance 1600 album. It’s a kickass track and the best song on that album, imo.

I'm thinking they could have done a single edit that removes that part from the song the rest of the song is superb. That's an addictive groove.

I totally agree. This was her strongest, most consistent album. There were no gimmicks,no big 'movie' concepts, just a bunch of great tunes with no filler."Faded Photographs" should have been a major pop hit single.

Quite well put into words. It's a bit like its artwork. Trying to go through the credits it's a mess with that background image. It's not that it's not cool, it's just... messy.

Yes,the album does seems rushed. With more time and more focus,I think it would have been much better.

Nothing comes close to A Love Bizarre - this song is pure groove genius, and Toy Box fades in comparison !!

that little out of tune organ at 2:55 "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

No deviation between chorus & verse. TMBGITW does the same thing. And once you notice, it becomes a bit lazy blah blah blah

Yep. Like the America 12". One of the rare cases when halfway through it you're bored out of your skull having a look to see how much's left to reach the runout groove.

@ psyche2 & SoulAlive: i could understand what you are both saying if it were just loops, but there are so many fascinating details within both of those songs' running times'. Make edits for your dinner parties! "Whatever skin we're in
