2 Rare New Vinyl Acquisitions In the past few weeks I bought a couple pieces of vinyl that may be rare and collectible and wanted to to reach out to the Fam to see what you think:
PRO-A-937 Promo 12" from 1980 with generic Warner Bros sleeve Side 1: "Gotts Stop (Messin' About)" 2:55 and "Partyup (edit)" 4:23
W90252T PAISLEY PARK UK 12" Side 1: "Paisley Park" "She's Always In My Hair" Side 2 "Paisley Park (Remix)"
The thing is...the B side has TWO TRACKS on it not just the one on the label. it has "She's Alwasysd In My Hair" AGAIN before the Paisley Park remix! Has anyone onever seen one like this? Where they all pressed like this as a prank or is this something rare?

Sorry for the ugly links but had trouble embedding photos here. Let me know what you think.

The Sleeveographia site lists your Paisley Park 12inch as a misspress.
Maybe someone else will reply. [Edited 2/21/24 12:10pm] Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

As I recall, the UK Paisley Park 12" with the 2 tracks on the B side is the mispressing (i.e. it features the additional track not listed on the sleeve) but the rarity is the version which is correctly pressed to match the sleeve description I.e. only one track on the B side). ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

The Gotta Stop didnt include the sheet- does that decrease it's value? Maybe it's my browser (Safari) but that link just shows all black...
@TrivialPursuit- yes I mistyped the number it's W 9052 T, as visible in the photo. So is this the one pressed by Damont? I dont see that.
@langebleu so the one that's correct and has only the PP Remix on that side is the valuable one, not this? Interesting

TrivialPursuit said:
“I have the "Gotta Stop Messin' About" single, too (here, in my Discogs). And I'm pretty sure I picked that up at a local record shop for probably $3-4.” I noticed on the discogs images for that promo, it has Partyup (Edit) 4:23. The album version is 4:24 (so that’s not much of an edit, if it even is, although could it be a different edit to the album version?). There is a Partyup (Edit), with a time of 3:07 on the b-side of the Philippines ‘Dirty Mind’ single. On the promo you have Trivial, please could you check the actual running time of Partyup and whether or not it is the same version as on the album? Furthermore, the version of ‘Dirty Mind’ on that Philippines single has a time of 3:23 shown on the image I could see on discogs (Prince Vault describes it as an ‘Alternate Edit’). The album version is 4:11, whereas the edit on the US 12” and 7” is 3:54. Whenever the Dirty Mind SDE comes out, it’s looking like the b-sides and edits disc is going to be choc full of alternate versions (there’s a mono version of the 3:54 edit of Dirty Mind too on US promo 12” and 7”)! [Edited 2/21/24 14:23pm] There may or may not be something coming!

AFAIK not ALL copies of the Gotta Stop included the promo sheet. This, or most of their previous owners ditched the sheet before reselling their copies. My copy doesn't include it, and most of the ones I see for sale from time to time either.
As for the Damont pressing of Paisley Park, I guess you can tell apart in the etching of the run out groove. The "correct" version with three tracks is definetely harder to find. The 4-track mispress was mass-produced, so once it was corrected I suppose nobody cared and didn't sell well, so it was recalled.

As mentioned below, records that include the promo sheet seem to be rarer. Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

I checked this out myself a while back when I was compiling my database of tracks and although it says edit it is indeed identical to the album version.

Ooh i’ve got the Paisley Park remix with just the remix on the b-side, got it years ago. Anyone know how much it’s worth(not that i would part with it…i think;)) Tried to google it but all i get is stuff about the mis-pressing….

https://www.discogs.com/r...isley-Park Above I think shows info and current prices for people selling the “correct”, later pressing. Below shows the mid-press: https://www.discogs.com/r...isley-Park Doesn’t look a lot of difference and neither going for mega bucks anyway, so keep hold. There may or may not be something coming!

Allow me to co-sign and be a tad bitter here: It's peanuts if you own it, it's a holy grail if you are after it. That's my feeling when I'm browsing the usual marketplaces these days.
