Three of the best things released since Prince’s passing…

3. Love And Sex from Purple Rain Deluxe. The fact that the Purple Yoda recorded this insane track and never released it is insane. And absolute, god-smacking banger.

2. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (Demo). Amazing that Prince wrote such a great power pop classic in 1979 and didn’t release it for….eight years!!!

1. Prince and the NPG: Live at Glam Slam (1992). Holy moley what an insane treasure this is!!!! Arguably the best official release of a live Prince performance EVER. The mind reels at what other live treasures might be still residing in The Vault!!

1999 SDE is a great set. It seems the bonus material is more varied than that of Purple Rain. So much of the PR stuff we knew or had. So a chunk of it was just filling in the gaps, or finally getting an official release on it. But 1999 felt more satisfying with the vault stuff.

SOTT as a whole is incredible. The only minus is no movie deal to get it released. It's been released in wide screen because you can see it on FreeVee and other free places.

Syracuse. All that mess cleaned up - audio and video - is just so good. I loved that back in the day, but I really felt like I was watching it again for the first time.

Honorable mention:

Glam Slam show is amazing, but I'm not huge on the D&P album, although I'm enjoying it more these days with constant re-listens. The outtakes are 50/50. So it ranks lower.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I've never seen the appeal of Love & Sex. It's just shouty noise.

The other song by the same name, however (Specifically the Sheila E version) is a perfectly crafted pop song. Shocking it was never released. Hoping there's a Prince vocal of that version in the vaults.

The 3 songs from the vault that I considered to be the strongest are

Cosmic Day
Adonis and Bathsheba
I Pledge Allegiance To Your Love.
Something BIG Is Coming.

When I first heard Love & Sex I thought Prince was singing: "Shia, Shia. Shia Labeouf."

love and sex 84 is one of the most mindbendingly biblically electric things he ever put to tape and it's astounding that it was completely (?) unknown to 99.9 percent of fans prior to the deluxe...

Having these in good quality is amazing as a fan.

I like that early iccttpoym version but the 87 version is better. Everything was improved. But its good to have an alternative version. I want more vault releases from 78/79.

I think both the 1999 and SOTT SDEs are great, but I'm going to go with a wildcard for my #3: the Do Me, Baby (Demo) from 1979 -- I like it better than the Controversy release, and I looooove the Controversy cut.

Erm no it isn't.

It's re-recorded, different instrumentation & at a faster tempo.

Right?? I still BLAST it when it comes up on the shuffle. KILLER track.

1999 SDE as a whole is amazing too.

Also think the SOTT NYE show with Miles is a treasure too. cool how the seeds for Lovesexy show is in it...

1. Rearrange (from 1999 SDE)
2. I Need A Man (from SOTT SDE)
3. The etching on Side D of the W2A vinyl set…it is magnificent! Seriously 3rd on my list is, “You’re My Love” from Originals, the song he gave to Kenny Rogers but such a sweet thing to hear Prince’s version.

Notable others, include the reggae influenced, “If It’ll Make U Happy” from 1999 SDE, “Blood On The Sheets” from D&P SDE, and the leak of a snippet of “Evolsidog” (please let there be a Parade super deluxe soon🤞
There may or may not be something coming!

1. Live At Glam Slam - Needs no explanation

2. We Can Fuck '84 - The definitive version of this song imo

3. SOTT Remaster - The album itself sounds stellar and the vault material is fantastic (for the most part) I do think they backed themselves in a corner with the Parade SDE as much of this should've been on that album?

Honorable person favorites:

- My Tender Heart

- Baby You're A Trip

Am I the only one here who appreciates Piano & a Microphone 1983 as an amazing "ears-dropping" into Prince's world? And I love the Originals disc (could have better audio quality at times, but hey).

And top notch for SOTT SDE - that was a luxurious package.

But what I really loved is the great video & audio improvement of Syracuse...

I know this makes 4... lol

Wow, it’s great to see somebody with whom I agree on this one. Rearrange is a great find, fun, and important. Some releases should document his ability, and the guitar solo-ing under the chanting on this song is amazing. And I Need a Man is so funky and catchy, probably the best of the songs that I hadn’t heard before. I can imagine that a Bonnie Rait version wouldn’t be good, but Prince’s is. Hmm, but You’re My Love isn’t in my top three. But I could easily round it out with We Can Fuck and honorable mention for If It’ll Make U Happy.

How about, "OH MY GOD" moments....

1. Walk in Glory. I had no knowledge of this song...was loving it b/c it was like hearing that scene from the Eddie Murphy movie, Nutty Professor where he's playing all the parts. I'm envisioning a church where every voice, every whoop, holler, scream was Prince! Incredible but the OH MYGOD moment came when I realized this was the music to 2 Nigs United...and a guitar solo"?????????????????? my Goodness.

2. How Come U Don't Call take 2 - there was another take? That take was actually better and more raw then the one we loved for 3 decades?? The take itself was an OH MY GOD moment but, when he seems out of breath at one point and it is picked up on the mic....wow. Incredible.

3. Forever In My Life early demo - again, the existence is an OMG moment but that it was actually a polar oppositve mood of the same song, that it was far more fleshed out then the one we knew, that he'd been doing parts of live for years....OMG. I actually prefer thsi one over the one we always knew.

There have been so many moments like this since his passing. International Lover, Power Fantastic's intro where he gives instructions and the diff vocal take, Rearrange....The Sacrifice of Victor live take...the guitar solo on Play THat FUnky from W2A.....we get these jewels over and over and there should be no complaints. Can MJ fans name a fraction of OMG moments? Can any one?

Love and Sex- yes, absolutely. I have said this shaking my head many times, this guy passed without fully realized gems like these having never been heard or discussed in the entirety of his life. Amazing.
