Batdance custom

Does anyone have up close pictures of the Batdance outfit? I’m looking for one that shows all the details.

I know, hard to find.

Was a fantastic outfit.

Mabe you can find more info through the costume designers;

- Helen Hiatt, and

- Susan Stella

Don't knwo where to find them though...

Robyn Lynch and Jim Bienke did the make-up.

"Gemini returns in Partyman wearing a more traditional tailored suit (no PVC this time around) again in purple and orange. It’s a pinstriped number with sparkly thread running through as an accent detail with opposing fabric covered buttons. The sleeves of the jacket are adorned in Kanji writing – a foreshadow to the Grafitti Bridge premiere and Nude Japan tour looks to come in 1990. My favourite thing about the suit has to the impeccable tailoring and clever use of buttons throughout. When Gemini spins round on his cuban heels you can see bright orange buttons acting as a cinch at the waist of the jacket. This is further tailored by the extreme cut of the closure of this jacket, again drawing the eye in to that tiny waist with clever use of button detailing – Gemini’s nod to the zoot suit. Costumes were designed by Helen Horatio & Sarah Daubney – ladies if you are out there I would love to see those dress patterns!"

I'm surprised this stuff hasn't been on display more in all the Paisley Park's exhibits, social media posts, etc. His whole Gemini schtick was on full display.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Thanks for the information. I have a friend that is looking for a close up. I’m surprised there isn’t more pictures out there.

Well, none of the greatest hits have any of the Batman soundtrack songs, due to all of the licensing issues (not counting 200 Balloons).

Batman was probably just be too over-the-top, blatantly "WB" for Prince to have kept celebrating after the breakup.

Still, would be cool to see a small Batman-themed area at PP.

I was so tempted to take a photo of it when it was on display at the O2, but security just never looked away!

See Prince Vault for the information I found.

  • Greg Feinberg - producer (Propaganda Films)
  • Albert Magnoli - director
  • Barry Lather - choreography
  • Marc Reshovsky - cinematography
  • Helen Hiatt - costume design
  • Susan Stella - costume design
  • Robyn Lynch - makeup (Prince)
  • Jim Bienke - make-up and masks
  • More information needed

Fun fact about the video: I remember (and Princevault notes this) that it was due to be choreographed by Paula Abdul. Instead, Barry Lather did.

Barry can be seen in "Nasty" by Janet Jackson. He's a white boy, in all black, but has on a red crop top over his black shirt. He's to Janet's right in the first row of guys in front of the bodega. He was in Captain EO as well.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Understood! Thank you. This is one compilation I don't have . . .
