I disagree completely. That s fans who doesn't bother for anniversary dates. They take whatever they can when it s released. They are aware of the release, without mainstreams medias marketing it. Whereas big anniversaries for big releases get free coverages by some mainstreams medias. You get some articles on your smartphones : Abbey Road turns 50 years", "Thriller turns 40 years", and you will get " Purple Rain turns 40 years : why the album changed the music industry", etc. So that's a damn miss opportunity to not benefit from that free coverage, combined withthe release of an anniversary edition. When Duane Tudahl says that nobody cares anymore About anniversaries edition : well, maybe, but that's still a great marketing ploy to make people aware of it.

Yes. The moment will be prime to finally tip the general public off that 'Purple Rain' is the only Prince project worth caring about. The 5% of the population that assumes maybe he has one or other relevant release in his 40 LPs must be quelled.

It wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get any SDE this year.They've been really slow in putting these sets together,which is a shame.We should be getting at least two SDEs a year.

Thanks Ramzoo for posting this, great site is superdeluxeedition, Bart/bizzie/Bort/Udo has often cited them for useful info on upcoming releases (when he’s in his kind mode - keep up with the good info Bart 👍 but less of the poop 💩 on people). Parade Deluxe done properly would hopefully be fantastic. Even most of the unreleased songs we know would be awesome if released (original Old Friends, Others Here With Us, Evolsidog - take my Love and Money).

If Parade is good to go, then what's with the hold up?

It isn't (or wasn't, at least), apparently. "Diamonds & Pearls" and "Love Symbol" ("Diamonds & Love") were ready to go. We got about half of it. The rest ("Love Symbol") is pretty much ready to be released, at least when it comes to audio/video contents. Various clues point to a "Purple Rain" SDE being in preparation, even though Duane Tudahl said anniversaries weren't important.

Wish so bad that it sees the light of day... "Parade" is my favorite era (my first concert, beautiful songs, awesome group...).

That's why I think it's more likely we will get a SDE and a Purple Rain concert like First Avenue 83 or Birthday Show 84 to celebrate the 40th anniversary. I wish the estate could give us more information about their plans for this year.

A plan. Any plan. That would be great. More or less like when Sony released all those numbered Miles Davis sets between 1996 and 2007 (43 CDs). They released them out of order (2, 4, 6, 1, 5, 7, 3, 8), which means that they had a plan to release all those sets right from the start, e.g. when they released the 4th one, they knew they had to release the 1st and 3rd ones sometime after the 4th. Except maybe the last one (On The Corner).

Anyway, we can dream. Duane has a "plan in his head", apparently, for roughly 50-60 box sets. What we would need then is serious people on the commercial/marketing side. Let's see if 2024 gets better!

Really hoping for a SDE (I LOVE Goodbye, so for just that song it's worth it for me even tho its just 2 minutes. And this is not a early version of the released track but a completely different track recorded 31-12-91 so don't take the entry on Princevault as fact.)

Prediction in his own words by Spicer himself back in september 2023 for the promo of D&P SDE + Laura Lipuma confirmed last year (summer) that she is working on the design for a special project around PR asked by The Estate.....so .....something will be released for PR this year iam sure !

BUT, I think that a definitive, ultra super rediculously deluxe Purple Rain might just be
what we will all lose our shit over once it drops.

It all depends on how many discs they include and if the associated discs will be with
it as well etc.

In the meantime, Parade SDE is something to dream about, something to live for

yes. people are underrating the possiblity that the PR40 could be incredible and make the other SDE's look like peanuts, which they are.
