Glam Slam/Diamonds and Pearls Bluray - Missed Opportunities I just watched the Glam Slam concert. Wow. I haven't even watched the special olympics show. This is exactly what I've been hoping for in blu ray releases. It LOOKS GREAT, SOUNDS GREAT and this is one show that actually gave me the feel of actually being at a live Prince concert. I think recording touches like showing footage from a seat perspective, with people's hands in the air in front of the camera -- in front of you -- between you and Prince enhances the 1st person point of view. (Without that cheesy slo-mo effect from Rave '99.) Prince and Rosie sounded awesome together, and their voices, both separate and together were formidable. It is amazing how clear and detailed and in-the-action the concert was, but somehow it took us 30 years to get this. This bluray would have sold like hotcakes if marketed [for instance] right after the hype of Musicology or right after Prince performed with Beyonce at the Grammys or right after the [GOAT] Super Bowl performance. What missed opportunities!

I mean, this would only have sold if it came out in 91/92. There are many things that could have come out earlier but 2004, a decade-plus after this happened? Why this one? But yes, agreed, shame more of this stuff was left in the vault, but prince didnt seem to care while he was alive. It wouldve been just another show to him. He wouldnt have let it out.

In 91/92, you would have had it in VHS quality...

I'm talking about when Bluray was in it's heyday (before streaming) and people were begging for quality music on bluray. And around the time of those events I mentioned, Prince was everywhere (at least in the states). He was finally doing interviews and he was getting plenty of media attention for being a 'genius'. You hardly heard his name without 'genius' soon to follow. Everyone 'famous' was starting to have a Prince story or had been to some secret performance of his. His concerts were all hot tickets or selling out and if he had a great concert performance available on bluray, like this one, I have no doubt it would have sold well.

I watched the show last week, and I was blown away. Sometimes I felt like I attended a real Prince concert. If that was broadcasted at the time in 1992, it would have contributed to sell the album better, especially in the US where there was no D&P tour. What a shame to have waited 31 years to see that.

Yep. Im sure prince had his reasons for sitting on it. But its a shame its just been collecting dust for decades.
